it seems now more then ever, tons of twitter people are moving more permanently to bluesky, and it's not that I'm surprised about that, but I'm surprised more aren't giving Mastodon and bluesky a try at same time, everyone seems sure that one is "the twitter replacement". Honestly I'm not so sure. can go both ways in the long term.

here's 2 more movies that also used practical effects for "room movement", Hunt for Red October and Inception

this is from the pilot episode of Lois & Clark tv show (1993). the likely used camera rotation + room decoration tricks, but it's so elegantly made. practical effects age way better.

The tech trend these last few years are to find tech nobody wants, burn a ton of cash, hype it up, profit from stock, fire a bunch of people, rinse and repeat.

been saying this for a while, it's not that Reddit and Discord don't have their place, but they are tools for other things. There is no good replacement for good old forums, indexable that you can search for a solution for a problem someone solved 10y ago
