“Now, it's starting to sound like Musk's seething hatred towards the aid organization can be traced back to at least one conflict of interest at one of his business ventures: according to The Lever, USAID's inspector general was investigating Musk's Starlink partnership with the Ukrainian government around the time DOGE shut down the organization.”
“On Monday, President Donald Trump took an oath to “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.” Short hours later, he violated that oath.
Trump has probably never read the U.S. Constitution; in 2022, he called for “termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution.”
Trump signed on Monday an EO to end birthright citizenship, a direct violation of the Constitution, which cannot be changed by executive order.”
“If you made $10,000 every day, since the day the Declaration of Independence was signed, you would still not have a billion dollars. He [Elon] wants that times fifty.”
It has been ~90,561 days since July 4, 1776. Multiplying that number by $10,000 results in $905,610,000.
I don’t think most of us can grasp how much money a billion is, let alone fifty.
@goatsarah@arroz Yeah, it’s becoming clearer now. It’s unfortunate that some designs have to suffer from all these unsavory characters, but it is what it is. Thanks Steph, Miguel and you, Sarah. 🙏🏻
One thing I still don’t get about Mastodon (and perhaps the Fediverse): search feels either broken or undercooked. Either way, the experience is subpar. I can tap on some users’ followers and it works as expected. Other users, nothing. This happens in all clients I have installed. Searching for toots that I know contain a certain value (e.g. iOS 17) come back empty. The experience is pretty bad, I assume even worse for newcomers. Why is that? 🤔
@arroz Hm. I didn’t think about that. Darn. So here I have a bunch of really cool and I cannot figure out who they follow or followers are. Is the solution to manually go to that instance and don’t he search there? How is everyone else discovering new people?
@jimcarroll According to History.com, “On April 30, 1993, four years after publishing a proposal for “an idea of linked information systems,” computer scientist Tim Berners-Lee released the source code for the world’s first web browser and editor. Originally called Mesh, the browser that he dubbed WorldWideWeb became the first royalty-free, easy-to-use means of browsing the emerging information network that developed into the internet as we know it today.” Did you use Arpanet before 1993?
