FYI, it’s pretty clear now that #Kursk is a giant trap for Russian troops. Russia are repeatedly, and therefore predictably, throwing their best equipment and best troops in their biggest numbers, down the best and therefore predictable routes.

Russia also has the Soviet doctrine of charging on a rout.

It’s at the point that #Ukraine is retreating on purpose, drawing Russian troops over minefields before pushing forward again to mop up. Rinse and repeat.

It’s still a hard fight but Ukraine has created a Russian soldier eating machine it is in control of, with all the mine mess being on Russian land.

Similar in the UK. Mostly as a money saving exercise for the government as all government support payments become electronic but couched as a civil rights exercise.

I know similar ideas are immediately crushed in the US as it’s more important to hinder one Black person than help 100 white people, especially if they are all poor.

Maybe this time, this election will finally teach the Dems that they need to run on a platform that fights to fix the issues Black people face instead of assuming they get their vote.

Thank fuck for America. Seriously. Europe was sleeping. Wake the fuck up Europe. Putin doesn’t give a shit if you hate war and violence. In fact it gives him an advantage.

If you want peace, you must be ready for war. If they have superior numbers, you need superior violence.

#Ukraine can save us, you just need to back them right now.

The new Sting Ukrainian interceptor drones are something else. You can see the evolution in them and it makes sense.

Standard drones use most the power for lift with slight variation for forwards and back. These take off that way, get height then tip 90 degrees and rapidly charge forward and down for interception. An obvious idea in retrospect. I’ll share videos when I get a good source.

I thought ‘well done, didn’t see that one coming’ then remembered I basically did.

Some people think Ukraine won’t be allowed to join NATO, so it can’t have lasting peace. They are thinking “why would America, UK, France, Germany, Poland etc want to be on the hook for defending Ukraine?”

Their thinking is backwards. NATO is actually introspective. Poland is thinking “if Russia attacked me, who is going to stand with me?”. Same for Finland, Norway, Sweden etc.

There is no scenario where these countries won’t want Ukraine to jump in. Ukraine geared up to fight Russia, has scores to settle and is one of the few proven to be able to knock back Russia. Speaks Russian natively and has already proven able to unweave and out class its intelligence network.

Russian paid for corruption and horse trading may slow the process down, but even then, bilateral mutual protection pacts will come into force.

It gets simpler if #Ukraine takes its land back so it’s all part of the plan. Win. Win everything. Join NATO. It’s just a matter of time and us keep supporting.

Given that corn syrup is bad for you, a lot of US products can’t be sold here in the UK. The only reason they are legal in America is that you made them.

Things to remember about the #Ukraine fighting style is firstly that they have incredible Op Sec. We’re so used to cameras everywhere that if we don’t see it, it feels like it’s not happening. It is happening, we just don’t know about it yet.

Secondly, no Ukrainian life is worth a field of grass. Daily map updates tell the Russian grinding story where Putin views that no blade of grass isn’t worth a Russian life.

Thirdly, Ukraine can set traps now. Not moving may not mean exhaustion.

All they need is for us to keep believing in them and supporting them.

Conditions to end the war:
Putin wants Luhansk, Donetsk, Crimea, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson so he can call for a ceasefire and be a strongman. The first two are where the natural resources are that rival Russia and are internal war justifications to oligarchs. Crimea is navy base and sea access. He also needs to take back Kursk. The others are a land bridge.

Putin won’t accept anything other than keeping what he has and needs to take the dark red. He needs it before mud season so he can call for a ceasefire.

He won’t officially end the war but wants to pause it before finding an excuse to resume it in two years.

#Ukraine knows this. As a free economy, they cannot go to war again, so they must free their lands, shown in dark blue. They can do this with the help of taking #Kursk, in light blue.

As both side must have the same territory for their aims, peace is impossible. All thanks to Putin. If Russia left now, we could have peace tomorrow.

The escalating minimum.

How I’ve always described the Western support received by Ukraine.

Ukraine is the European dream and so attacking it is attacking the soul of Europe. Europe simply cannot let Ukraine fall and will do the absolute bare minimum to keep it up. Russia cannot accept losing either, so it will keep upping the ante to overwhelm the current state, hoping for the West to back out or be corrupted out.

So it’s a strength test. Ukrainian troops outmatch Russia’s, no problem there despite numbers. Economically, Italy 🇮🇹, an EU mid-table, is stronger than Russia on its own. Russia cannot win and this is why I have always been, and remain, confident that #Ukraine will win.

Sadly however, there is a big emotional gap between not letting Ukraine lose and the logically obvious Ukraine must win. So in government policy, the minimum continues.

However, Russia just escalated with a potential game changing supply of cruise missiles from Iran. So right now, the West is working out if they need to raise their minimum. They may not do so if they feel they don’t need to. I’m hoping they do.

Even though we are telegraphing any use of long range strikes, Russia is so bad at war, it might still provide a surprise attack. Even if not, it would be good to take the inhibitor off.

So that is where we are and what is going on.

An excellent analysis Anders. Shows that #Ukraine feels Russia is incapable of hurting the #F16s they have and the moral boost is more valuable than what they are going to do in the short-term.

Ukraine fights smart so I think the first missions are going to be solidly the ‘deter’ phase of air superiority. They are going hunting radar.

Russia continues its dramatic sweeping of Ukrainian land as the second largest army in the world. Just look at how much land they have invaded in a year! Dramatic!… or more like ‘spot the difference’.

Russia is expending its soldiers for basically nothing. #Ukraine continues to fight smart.🇺🇦
