Turning people into a liquid without killing them, then re-animating afterwards WOULD be a neat trick though. Not quite the Star Trek Transporter, but a good start.

“Sir, please step into the liquifyer and we’ll pour you into the transport pipeline shortly. We wish you a plesant trip.”

I'm just thinking that "abroad" is a perfectly cromulent word to use for a different country.

Like, take Hawaii. Definitely "overseas", but not technically "abroad" for US citizens, right? :)

Impressive and surprising, but such a relief.

Biden stepping back was obviously well planned, to a degree I did not anticipate. So happy to find my fears were not coming true. President Harris will do the job just fine, I'm sure.

I have been hearing about this type of service being in the works for years. The “productivity pundits” have been discussing it quite a bit on their podcasts, so yeah... someone was thinking to basically record everything into a massive “browser history” equivalent for your life.

They also mentioned wearing body cams to take photos with a similar frequency, so maybe that Humane AI pin will get a second life as your personal surveillance cam :)

And this at a time where we desperately need diverse voices and views on our teams.

I am at 34 years in this business and with a 100% score, projects and teams that were well mixed with genders, ages, ethnicities etc. have ALWAYS performed better AND been more fun to work for.

We scare away the people we need the most.

It generally harms women. They often pass on job listings where they don’t absolutely meet all requirements.

We guys often fall back on our overconfidence, thinking “well, how hard can it be” and wondering why there are so few women in this industry.

    This is just terrible.

I am no expert, but surely there must be plenty of studies with positive results? Claiming “very little is known” just doesn’t make sense.

Suspecting much of this is purely political, not medical.

Qualified No, because I'm not seeing the use case. When you deliver data using ActivityPub, it really should be a better option than using robots.txt IMHO. Any limitations should be contained in the ActivityPub message itself, right?

Damn... 🤔 sorry, didn't catch that.

You're right, that’s pretty low, and no, it's a filter someone wrote, tested and deployed, tracked in a Jira ticket. It's not a bug.

I might be misremembering, but the previous official statements from Meta on Threads integration was that it would start as a one-way push. Meaning that Mastodon clients could follow a Threads user and see the discussion happening on Threads, but that it would NOT merge back any comments Mastodon users would post.

Did they announce the two-way sync should be operational by today?

I might be mincing words here, but I tend to think that things go out of "fashion” but will retain their "style” indefinitely.

Fashion is commercial mass-market group think, style is individual and deeply personal. Style don't care about fashion, it’s way stronger than that. IMHO.
