1. Fed, watered & watched on my patio this morning: 3 squirrels, 2 obese scrub jays, 2 mourning doves, various numbers of dark-eyed juncos, white-crowned sparrows, house sparrows, house finches, song sparrows, bush tits, black phoebes — while 3 hummingbirds flitted around. 😬
2. A friend is getting through radiation treatment with ease & without discomfort.
3. Celebrating with three of my studious granddaughters the International Day Of Women & Girls In Science.

Jesus — by the time I read through my Fedi feed for an hour, my blood pressure is up 40 points and my mood has hit the floor. 😱

Not everyone can physically join a protest but EVERYONE CAN contact their congressional Rep & Senators. 203-224-3121

I wish a person who is better informed than I would explain how massive Fed Departments, Agencies & Programs that serve specific functions and were formed through legislative action, signed into law & funded year after year by Congress, can vanish overnight with NO CONGRESSIONAL PROCESS, DEBATE NOR APPROVAL?

And Fed employees ARE protected by employment laws, right?

Could the words ‘unconstitutional’, ‘illegal’ and ‘dictatorship’ be accurately applied?

A puppet’s illegible signature on an EO cannot be valid & legal to take these actions, right?

WTAF? Three weeks in and we’re seeing the entire gov’t melt like cheese on a Big Mac.

As an older Dem woman, for me it’s the fear.

I’ve never been afraid of my gov’t before (although close to it around Vietnam/Kent State/civil rights clashes). Now I’m fearful that my core ethics & moral values will be violated by inhumane actions taken by 47 against vulnerable immigrants, people on necessary social aid, swaths of civil servants suddenly unemployed, negative mandates violating wildlife & our environment, and halted progress against the existential threat of #ClimateCrisis.

I’m afraid our constitutional republic will very soon be only an oligarchical fascist state.

I fear my reliance on Social Security, Medicare, & a federally-guaranteed reverse mortgage will be so altered as to become negligible, & that all I worked for in 61 years will be gone.

I fear our entire information system is so befouled by lies that truth itself is vanishing, particularly from official sources. Without truth there can be no common reality.

I don’t know what to do with this fear.

I support Indivisible & get their frequent emails & newsletters. The one today had a distinctive tone of frustration with elected Dems. Indivisible is getting HUGE local turnouts from new supporters but not much is happening in our blue Congress to thwart MAGA. All I see are renewed fundraising efforts, but 46 Dems joined Republicans on the Laken Riley act. It feels like we’re all standing in Tiananmen Square waiting for the tanks to flatten us. I don’t think ANYONE is prepared to fight back effectively. 47 has Congress and SCOTUS and the entire gov’t in his tiny, cruel hands. Who can stop him for realsies? 😱

I began to work for The Resistance on birdsite in 2017, in opposition to then-POTUS’ acts, by creating graphics and mass-tweeting through various groups’ efforts. Four elections & thousands of memes/posts later, I suspect this may be my last.

American voters have believed lies over truth (and the media hid the truth of Pres. Biden’s achievements). Voters chose a “fantasy economy” over women’s rights & vital social programs. They chose blatant fascism over 248 years of democracy. They’ve chosen blatant greed over saving our planet.

I won’t be around for the consequences, but my grandkids will. (Or not.)

I thought Trump was a clown candidate who didn’t have a chance in hell to win. I’d been repulsed by him since the very first time I became aware of him, never watched his stupid TV show, found his ostentatious wealth & the lurid stories about him abhorrent.

I was THRILLED to vote for HRC & still have my “I VOTED” sticker from the election…a probable woman president, intelligent, experienced, & a Democrat. I didn’t watch any returns and awoke to the cosmic joke of Fuckface as winner-by-electoral math — with Comey’s & Russia’s assistance.

I joined birdsite in 2016 & began working with the Resistance. This is my fourth & last election including Fucko. He’s the worst, most despicable thing to have happened to the USA in my 82 years.
