1. Cool weather system circling the area, bringing puffy white sky fish swimming across the blue expanse over my garden.
2. I’ve had nothing to do and have done nothing for three lazy days. No regrets.
3. Chatty grandson visited & repotted my bonsai crape myrtle, fixed a screen door latch, & solved an electrical issue. I didn’t even have to feed him!

The list of “undesirables” and implied “expendables” keeps growing, and with it the change in policies & enforcement:

Immigrants (documented & undocumented). Detained immigrant children. Asylum seekers. Disabled/Seniors/others on Medicaid. Trans folks. Unhoused. Veterans. Families using SNAP benefits. “Antifa terrorists” & protesters. Haitians & Somalis on TPS. (Plus, non-whites, non-Christians…and others I can’t recall right now.)

With its recent rulings SCOTUS has made our Constitution a tragic joke.

🔺The first movie I remember seeing was a 1945 newsreel of victims just released from Nazi death camps.
🔻I think it’s time to wake up before ”the list” becomes an American Holocaust. (Look at the people in charge!)

4. Bonus: made a phone call I’ve been procrastinating on for (I swear) six years. 🥳

I know it’s pie in the sky, but I’d love to see pollsters JUST ONCE include a series of questions based on the immorality and inhumanity of 47’s administration — questions not based on the price of gas, the economy in general, or an assessment of how “favorable” the respondent views DJT.

He is violating every single moral and ethical position most of us hold & live by. I DGAF if gas is a buck or two more when people are being deported to hellhole foreign countries without due process, boaters in nearby waters are extrajudicially executed, health & science & #ClimateCrisis funding is decimated to pay for an unauthorized war, and the entire administration is staffed by looney tunes incompetents.

We’re in the midst of a constitutional crisis resting on a foundational moral crisis. It’s not just our economy, it’s our humanity at risk.

Re-reading Thomas Merton’s final journal (“The Other Side Of The Mountain,”written from 10/1967-12/1968 - his death), he addresses Vietnam and America, under Pres. Johnson. This quote was written a few days after the October, 1967, March On The Pentagon, in which over 100,000 people protested against military escalation.

“The stupidity and blindness of American power, which, in its own terms is perfectly “logical” — and yet its terms are fantastically arbitrary and respond only to the “reality” of a thinking that goes on within an artificial and closed system. To defend your own reality and then impose it forcefully upon the outside world is paranoia.”

[Merton was a Trappist monk, a prolific & influential writer, and a peace activist.]

Detainees most often held due to race, language, skin color.

Read it. (And enjoyed the reading…very clearly written & also entertaining.)

I’m no longer an analyst/software engineer, so ignore this comment from a nobody if you want, & it’s not meant as snark. To use an ancient comparison, you’re going to start with a model that people USE daily (like WP5.1) & end up with an over-engineered, experts-only quagmire with so many esoteric features that befuddle average users (like pick a version of MS Word).

[All I’d like are 1) a draft version of posts that is then finalized at posting but remains editable; 2) a mandatory subject word/phrase at the start of every post so we can self-edit seen content without having to filter by (unknown) hashtag; e.g. “politics” “cats” “tech” “humor”. ]

And FYI, one reason I left Bluesky after a few weeks was the “starter pack” nonsense — which absolutely caters to popular/large account & is not inclusive of lesser-known (but delightful) commentary. Fuck that stupid numbers game!
