My second thought after seeing video of the collision was about how Trump bragged that he was responsible for no airplane crashes his first year in office. (First thought was OMG I hope the death toll is low.)

There haven't been trash cans on 6th St since I moved here. I don't think there's even any within a block or two.

@scott the california legislative sessions are way more stretched out.

Similar to a lack of live-posting meetings, I rarely see people in California social media organizing around getting bills passed, modified or deleted. I don't know if that's just because I'm not connected to the right people on social media. Or maybe the California legislature is just a lot more separated from the public than the Washington legislature.

In Washington State, legislators can introduce any shitty bill they want. Before getting too worked up, look at who is sponsoring the bill and what list of actions have been taken on it. Check if there's a companion bill in the opposite house of the legislature. If the only actions are a referral to a committee, the bill has no legs. If it has a companion bill, Democratic co-sponsors, and hearings, then it has a chance.

@dbloom Perhaps not shocking, but there is a congressionally designated group for naming geographic features that Trump has bypassed, the US Board on Geographic Names. By law, the US Government is required to use names from their guidance. However, that board is made up of something like 12 representatives from other cabinet departments, and Trump *can* tell them what to do. But officially, the names aren't supposed to change until that Board has followed its process.

Ugh. I'm going to have to import all of my reading list to Pocket manually. Vivaldi only exports reading list in CSV, and Pocket only imports Bookmark HTML files.

Ugh. Back to Pocket for saving links to read. I really wanted to use Vivaldi's built-in Reading List, but for about the 30th time in a year Vivaldi synch has a conflict and is asking me to "Reset Remote Data". I don't want to lose the 30 additional pages on my reading list in the remote data.

I'm watching Jackie Brown on one of GoogleTV's FAST channels. It's very much like watching minor cable channels back in the day. No skipping ads. Swear words bleeped. You don't get to pick when you want to start the movie or pause it.

But the picture is so much better than watching on old TVs. And Jackie Brown was made before Hollywood collectively decided that dialogue should be impossible to understand and everything should should be so dark it's impossible to see anything.

maybe coincidence, but there were 6 cops on 6th Street this morning (and one turning on to 6th from Market). they appeared to be asking questions about something that happened tho, rather than a general walk the beat thing.

really glad to jear the mayor say this, rather than the normal tough love they make bad choices rhetoric. we'll see what he actually does tho.

This seems like a really great way to get Muni to come out and paint an official 20 ft buffer ahead of their 4 decade schedule to paint curbs properly.

maybe I'll just stop composting. i do not have the patience to get all the stuff out of the bin and clean it off so it can go back in recycling. if someone moves the recycling to trash at least it still gets picked up.
