Maybe I have more exposure to science and government than your average person, but I’m seeing a lot of friends and family *directly* impacted by these attacks.

Are there any web browsers where I can easily (without installing an extension) create more than two instances that don’t know anything about the data in the other ones? Chrome and Firefox can easily do two by using a regular window and a private/incognito one, but any additional windows/tabs will share data/state with those. I know there are extensions that let you do this, but I’m curious if any browsers support this out of the box.

I mentioned to my wife that Notepad prompts for a sign in to a subscription service in the latest Windows, and she said, “What’s Notepad?” “It’s the thing you write text files in.” “You mean Word? You’ve always had to pay for that.”

My mind is a bit blown that somebody could have used windows for years and not have ever encountered Notepad.

I don’t go on LinkedIn regularly because why would I, but I have an account because I need to be employed to afford life. Anyway, I logged in today and what a bizarro world. The shit people are saying in there versus a place like here…

I was trying to sell somebody on Mastodon and they were unconvinced said, “I don’t know, I just hate all the ads on social media.” I blinked for a second, “Oh, well, yeah, there aren’t any ads on Mastodon.” and they immediately grew more interested. I forget how nice that is, and that it would be a major selling point.

@pikhq Two other options, easier but very circumstantial: If you’re filthy rich, simply buy citizenship, or simply apply to and attend higher education in the country of choice. Right to live there for the duration of the degree, and depending on the country, right to stay and work afterwards if you get a job offer. I’m guessing neither apply here but I thought I’d mention

Very frustrated that the indie board/card game crowd has centred on blewski. I’ve gotten some of them to enable bridging by reaching out directly, but that’s a pretty big ask from a stranger. What is the cheap and cheerful mechanical keyboard to buy? My model M I stole from work 15 years ago has a loose connection and I can’t be bothered fixing it. I am not picky, I type on shitty keyboards happily, but I also appreciate something better than the absolute worst.
