@mekkaokereke I had a hell of a time learning how to just sign up for mastodon, let alone use it. I have a ton of friends who gave up. They aren’t dumb; it was just really counterintuitive

@GrahamDowns the timing makes me think it’s psychosomatic but you’re probably right. But I feel dumb going to the doctor for this when it could just be from all that.

I’ve been having lots of physical symptoms from the depression getting worse for a while and now the disaster of the last week and near future.

Mostly it’s headaches which has been true for years. Lately it’s gastrointestinal issues (I’ll spare you the details) and acid reflux. Fun.

Lately it’s been a weird feeling like I have swallowed something that’s too big and it’s making itself known but like in the middle of my back. I don’t know if that makes any sense but I hate it

My brother has the original super Mario brothers and the kids re playing it. I haven’t thought about this game in over 35 years and the music came on and i was instantly transported to 1988.

Well, I’ve been having a lousy couple of days, but then I just read a Reddit post about how my most problematic city council member got arrested for public drunkenness, was found passed out on the street with a head injury, outside of conference, with her official city of Alameda name tag still on.

So I am doing better than that at least

@kingrat these guys have full time jobs though, that aren’t this.

And no one has run against them in 20 years.

These two people are the only ones who have run for these positions in the 20+ years I’ve lived here except for one guy who ran with the platform to get rid of the positions because they don’t actually do anything.

That’s all I know but it makes me mad

I got my answer and it made me mad:

their roles are entirely legacy relics of our charter. their duties are handled by staff and they just sign off. they in exchange get free healthcare from the city on the tax payer dime. we have requirements for being qualified in their fields to run against them

@kingrat same, mine is all local (city council, school board), a few props, and state assembly and senate.

It all goes to line the baby rescue possum cage.
