@isagalaev @meredithw A rapidly growing proportion of those of us diagnosed with ADHD and/or ASD reject the ‘D’ entirely! Unfortunately an alternative word for a person diagnosed with ADHD hasn’t been mainstreamed yet, the way a person can refer to themselves as “autistic” instead of “having ASD”.

@futurebird My daughter’s pediatrician asked me how I disciplined her (she was two!), and when I said I don’t so much discipline as figure out what the problem is (hungry, tired, sensory overload, etc.) he was mystified. He was like “But if she’s having a tantrum you put her in time out, right?”

No I don’t, because remote debugging is hard? 🤨

@acdha @mekkaokereke @bluejekyll 🎯 My Bay Area suburb grumbled for decades about how we’d been paying in to BART since its inception and it still didn’t connect to our city, then when we had the chance a bunch of loud residents said if BART came into our downtown then “people” from “Oakland” would use it to come in and rob/shoplift/mug shops/people here and our City Council declined to bring BART here.

Literally, precisely, 100% what you said. We can’t have BART because racism.

@forteller @Edent Some varieties of English are non-rhotic, which means they invent ‘r’ sounds at the ends of some words (as is the case here) and omit the ‘r’ sounds at the ends of other words. 😊
