something I'm noticing in some (a minority) is a treating of social interactions like a tactical game. 'I'm going to block you if X' or 'I don't boost posts that don't Y'. Feels like treat people as a means to an end. I don't like it. Imago Dei. Is this a #twitter thing?
@royal@fu I'm part of that trend. I observed Lent for the first time this year and did it solo (my church doesn't observe lent). I'm aiming to do it again, but this time in communion with others (presumably online though I'm hoping I'll find people to Lent with in my congregation.). Discovering tradition has come via three main strands. 1. Online connection 2. Exploring Christian Symbolism in art 3. I've been persuing Church Membership. and I'm discovering there's a wider pull to be part of the larger body as well. This could manifest individually and online (I've found the homilies of @FrJoshTX powerful) or (unlikely) - change churches which is more inline with the wider church.
@royal I attended two services yesterday. To intentionally experience a service following the lectionary. I have to say. I really enjoyed the enhanced feeling of being part of the global body of Christ. To come online and see the same reflections in the diverse Christians I follow. I want that.
@Jimothy There's usually an opening passage at the start of the service which is selected by the person in charge of the order of service. The sermon, passage and worship music are usually related. Our pastor has been preaching through the sermon on the Mount.which means he's been preaching on sexuality recently (Adultery and Divorce) January is set aside for 5 psalms. The liturgical calendar is only recognised during Easter and advent. Lent isn't a thing. Baptist churches vary though. I know one that has a high church approach. We are federated.
through meeting #Anglican s of #twexodus I discovered the #lectionary Soemthing I've not encountered as a #baptist. Considering drawing to it as part of #Fedichurch as it seems to be a global and cross denominational.
@rose_myrtle@RL_Dane@Big_Diggity FWIW 4. was a reply 1.-3. weren't. I removed the links for the purpose of compiling in a list, (for 1. & 3.) so that probably makes them look like replies. 1. had a link that decried the politics of the Brave founder and 3. had a wordle link.
@RL_Dane@Big_Diggity@rose_myrtle No complaints yet. Thus far it's expanded the following which were hidden. IMHO I'd only consider 4. as a candidate for a CW.
---- 1. "Don't use Brave. Don''t trust people who tell you to use it either." 2. "There's no getting around it, pride is a sin." 3. "Wow, that was close! Cool checker pattern tho." 4. "I've only ever served in states where clergy are mandated reporters."
Was grumpy this morning because my daughter hadn't been in touch and I've not seen her in what feels likes ageesssss. She pinged me today and we chatted online, I'm now bopping along :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYKNqftCkSQ #Dad#Father
I've just enabled "Always expand posts marked with content warnings". I'm seeing to many things hidden that shouldn't be (eg: a cute dog marked as sensitive). Will be interesting to see if this backfires.
