I looked into having a non federating mastodon instance a long time ago. It was a doable from the settings, but things could have changed. Might have been on Glitchsoc fork. If I find it again, I'll let you know.

Side note: Hubzilla has a plugin that creates a stand alone server.

@GrahamDowns We've called them bricks for years now. Sometimes we call them blocks.

I haven't bought a new phone in 3 years, mine came with a charger and brick. I heard Apple justify the decision to not include it as a to stop contributing to e-waste and to be 'green'. I think they did it for cost reasons and found a clever way to disguise it.

@IslandUsurper Actually, we bought a new car a year ago because of how weird prices were. Supply & Demand. We could by a brand new car (if we waited 2 months for delivery) for the same price as a 2 or even 3 year old car of the same make/model. Being patient for a couple months was worth it.

I'm speaking about a non-EV car. I have trust issues with EV at the moment. I'm a big electrical fan, so I naturally want to be in support, but the surveillance issue and the fact that we live rural has me concerned.

@arraybolt3 I just installed the word a few days ago.
The only thing I liked any Youversion was that it read to you and the text was synced in moving with what was read.
That is no longer the case, and just navigation in general has become quite difficult
