Hypothesis: any random word in the lexicon may be combined with "punk" to evoke a concept that is almost entirely dissociated from either word alone, yet is also strangely coherent and intuitive.
Testing using a random word generator...
Sacredpunk. Bucking the authority of organized religion. Worshiping banned, unpopular, and forgotten gods.
Batpunk. Basically goths and Bruce Wayne.
Reflectpunk. Why are you dressed like a disco ball?
Humorpunk. Antijokes as far as the eye can see.

While I don't have money to throw around myself, this year I convinced someone that does to give some of it to the Free Software Foundation @fsf . Which is almost as good as giving yourself. And the gift of liberated software infrastructure is the gift that gives right back to yourself the next time you "update all" in your package manager!

You choose to die on the hill, but I choose to burrow deep inside, carve out a tomb within, and wait for the trickles of blood to permeate from above to its earthen walls, signaling at long last my time to emerge and continue the fight. BETAMAX IS SUPERIOR TO VHS!

@Adam_Cadmon1 Hold up a sec....
[Does my own web search because that's not anybody else's job.]
That is entirely contrary to the spirit of the right to asylum. I get that colonizers are getting some political fatigue from the people whose lives they remotely made shitty actually making the trip to show up on their doorsteps, but isn't the best solution there to *not* export shittiness to people you don't want as your new neighbors?
England in particular needs to offer *all* the asylum.

@futurebird I propose one, and only one, more civil time change, to mean Julian day, expressed to five decimal places, synchronized to TAI. If all of China can be on Beijing time, the whole world can as easily be on 0°E/W time.
No more adding or subtracting from server logs to see when something happened in local time. No more zone files. No more being on the wrong time because the local politicians want to be on the same time as the capital.

Another would be to provide basic housing, no-fee public transportation, basic nutrition, basic Internet, and basic utilities through direct government action. Don't buy food on the open market, but actually employ workers to run farms. Don't subsidize house rentals, but build and lease houses. One can't just fix economic problems by writing checks. One has to address supply issues by adjusting production.

Basic income only works if you eliminate exposure to the rentiers first. Otherwise, if you give out $1000/month, all the prices for unavoidable expenses like housing, transportation, energy, food, and utilities mysteriously rise by $1001/month.
But without basic income, all that is happening anyway, and all that extra blood has to be sucked out of wage increases instead of stones.
Seems like one strategy would be to fund BI out of a tax on unearned incomes.

@Octale @futurebird The counter to this ploy is to add more pans to the scales of power. Captain Kirk could beat Khan because he battled using more dimensions in his thinking. A duopoly entrenched in its own binary struggles cannot effectively strategize away from the line that connects its two antipodes. If the playing field is a plane rather than a line, all their proven successful ploys in their arsenals fail in the face of lateral movements.

@Octale @futurebird @georgetakei If all one does is vote in state elections, one ought to vote such that the fascists and oligarchs don't win. But if all one does is vote in state elections, that one is a fool. The mathematical structure is inherently unfair.
As a means of peacefully diffusing concentrations of power, and effecting other beneficial changes, state elections have been neutralized in most of the US. That is one less method that is inherently non-violent.

@Radical_EgoCom @TransitBiker It's not really anarchism unless a bunch of anarchists have argued that it's never going to work and we should really try it *this* way instead.
"Nonsense". That's amateur. I expect a 15 page essay full of quotes from Proudhon, Bakunin, George, Marx, Von Mises, and lets just throw some Time Cube in there for fun. You have *no idea* how this game is played, and it is an utter embarrassment.

@thomasfuchs It's not like a 51% attack on some encryption network. It could all be easily solved with a "What Mastodon server are you?" personality test.
