@unchartedworlds @feditips I agree, and I actually wrote a guide with similar advices, but from my observations, it seems to cause even more decision paralysis to newcomers. People are afraid of making a bad decisions and so they prefer status quo (No decisions; not joining the Fediverse)

So I think the most efficient method is to send invites to your friends. Or just ask them a few questions and decide for them. Just 1, maybe 2 options. They can just move later if necessary.

@feditips Also, seeing your title *Unofficial* guide to masto made me think... Maybe you could make it official somehow? Maybe have it added to official Masto documentation? (as in, it's present in both places) I'm sure this would be beneficial for both you and the Mastodon project in general. Give more visibility to your page, and give masto users nice tips and tricks!
