@ryanhoulihan I think that the thing that keeps humans going, despite knowing about their own mortality is the ability to deny it regularly and, unfortunately most who have the spare time to do so, overuse that ability to retreat into every day minutiae and culture in order to avoid difficult issues. Same thing that allows populism / conspiracy to flourish too I’d say: the world is horrific and complex, make it binary and simple like a good guy / bad guy action movie please they say.

@ryanhoulihan that sure goes for, a lot, most/all, of the people who are elevated to the stop of end stage capitalism, a system that venerates folks who are part of the problem and not the solution.

@ryanhoulihan @noiob where it always fails for me too. An actually useful use case - dictating a note when driving. Always end up with something that is so far from what you said it is unrecognisable even if it does make a note.

@ryanhoulihan it’s certainly still shit at dealing with Glasgow accents. Even if I try to put my best posh accent on. The word ‘bacon’ for example, me saying “baykin” vs “bi-con” or whatever.

@ryanhoulihan I’ve just started today on steroids. Had them before in attempt to sort my kidney disease out. This time for my Crohn’s to try to calm it down so peritoneal dialysis can be an option later.
Last time I had an insatiable appetite on waking and put on weight. Since then I took up running and lost weight.
So I had better do some real Forrest Gump level shit this time to not pork up. 🏃 🏃 🏃

@PGBeattie @goatsarah personally I think that is their problem - money has given them power to do as they please but they can’t cheat death, the great leveller we all must deal with and it drives them to distraction. They are all terrified of being dead and forgotten and irrelevant.
