@cwebber it's pronounced Smmmmmm-tup and it's the sequel to Mmmbop
This is exactly it.
People like to be talked to, not talked at.
Accounts in "broadcast mode" do better on other platforms, with different styles of use.
People get ridiculous cognitive dissonance when they don't do numbers.
I remember in 22 an account for a housing activist group was blasting out pronouncements that nobody was disagreeing with but they weren't doing numbers so they went to back to Twitter to tell everyone we were all landlords.
"I want to talk about an under-represented group on Fedi"

Fuck all the way off.

I don't think people understand how spicy #Upscrolled is going to get. The CEO professes to have a "once it's not illegal" policy. Even if you have enough mods, that's not going to wind up great.
They seem to have no cap or rate limiting of registrations and are "blowing up" at the cost of a Discover feed that's got some fairly fucked up shit in right now. Gore, porn, propaganda for extremist groups, plenty of bigotry. If it was on fedi I'd have it blocked.
I wrote a short guide aimed at people who are still using Twitter for stuff, to help familiarise themselves with both Bluesky and Mastodon.
There's no berating or trying to tell people things they've already heard in it, it's intended to make the process of switching to either or both a bit less intimidating.
Might be good for someone you know.

@Infoseepage I have gone into the past and changed things so Drogheda is in Louth
It's not easy to say this, but I'm actually from Meath.
@GossiTheDog delighted and kind of confused.
Did Santa bring spines to Labour leadership?
Shocking answer to the question, "Are the Irish government going to hold a tech company to account or are they going to be spineless, arse-licking, US client state toadies?"

@zzt "drama" is what selfish assholes call it when other people have less tolerance for hateful bullshit than they do.
Next week will be normal.
Update: nope
Saw a ballet today. Pretty cool.
Every 10 seconds on average people were doing things that would put me in hospital.
They use a lot of music from chocolate ads though. Kinda lazy.
"If you're not on board with AI you're going to get left behind"
Boost if you'd like to be left behind and would consider paying extra for a life without this bullshit.
Tidal for streaming, often use Bandcamp to buy digital and Musicbee as a player.
Pocketcasts for podcasts.
Tidal is still VC backed and has the old Twitter CEO at the top of the chain, but it's significantly less evil than Spotify.
Not funding Rogans or otherwise trying to lock down podcasts.
Pays artists better.
Not trying to supplant real artists with their own AI output.
No payola in generated playlists that I'm aware of.
No miltech from the CEO.
@ben I feel like every time someone suggests Tidal to someone on Spotify they get warned off Tidal and I bet half the time they just go "oh I'll just stay on Spotify so."
I saw someone recommending torrenting instead on one thread which is missing a lot of the appeal of streaming.
A cobweb on dead thistles in a meadow, with mist resting on all
I honestly couldn't vote for either of them.
Because I am no longer resident in the republic.
