With the caveat that it deals with difficult topics (CSAM), I recommend reading this thread, https://hachyderm.io/@det/110769470058276368 as well as the report it's connected with.
I find the work to be valuable, truthful and worth taking into consideration.
However, I don't recommend reading the related articles in WaPo or The Verge. "Study gets badly mutilated in Reporting" #354263
