@lightweight@becha In the early days of the pandemic we experimented with several tools: jitsi, zoom, blue jeans, Google Meet. We ended up with teams 😝 by ministry diktat. However Zoom was by far the easiest to use across platforms with no installation issues + multiple users I'd prefer to use jitsi by inclination but the platform was not stable enough or perhaps not enough bandwidth? You only need to waste time in a few meetings before everyone asks to use zoom.
@SusanMaury what an interesting study. I find it curious that couples with children are more likely to be lonely than those living alone though? I mean, it's hard work having children for sure, but I've always thought they help you to meet other adults - perhaps during COVID people simply couldn't and it emphasised their isolation? I don't know..
Really enjoying the @AntennaPod app, would like some recommendations for good podcast series please. ?
Can be almost anything, good storytelling is a must though, I really like Tim Hartford's cautionary tales, Bad women, Timothy Snyder, Fry and Rutherford, could also be comedy, science, history, productivity, not too much politics and if true crime a focus on the social/cultural context rather than gruesome details thanks...
Holy Moly, just downloaded #Pixelfed#Android beta app and it's brilliant!
You *can* use #Tusky or #Fedilab of course, but if you're used to an #Insta type interface the #PixelFedBeta is way better. Very sleek and without the stories nonsense (AFAICS). Nice work @pixelfed
Been a Sir #TerryPrachett fan since my early teens and I started writing html as a 19 year old, so how have I only heard about GNU Terry Pratchett now?
This? is exactly what I'm here for. We're building our own future on #Mastodon and the #Fediverse. To some extent at least, we get to decide what it looks like.
My goodness what a wonderful post about a happier more innocent time by @sophie
The fun we used to have back in the late 1990s building websites out of #HTML before corporate branding and mininalism made everyone's web interface look the same...
"Imagine", said my youngest, "Outside you just see people passing and they're just like scenery, but they have whole big lives and do things and know things that we don't know anything about.."
One of the privileges of #parenting is seeing a brain developing day by day by day.
