Allow us to introduce you to Mike, our potential mascot. He made his debut last year at #FOSDEM, but never made an appearance since. What do you think, should we embrace him into our family? Let us know in the poll!
@broz42 The revamp happened over several years, and changes were released (to our users) as they were ready. We now have concluded the effort and included the last bunch of structure changes in the 3.4 release.
@hund With so many other features and fixes to implement, and mono support being available at OS level, probably not. If, however, you have a strong use-case, you may always advocate for it in our issue tracker: https://github.com/AntennaPod/AntennaPod/issues/4723
We've just released version 3.4, which is all about efficiency: 🚀 Faster refreshing (of podcasts with 1k+ episodes) 🚀 Up to 10x faster podcast deletion 🚀 Restructuring of codebase to modernise it & make it ready for new contributors (wrapping up a 3-year effort) 🤐 Skip silence setting per podcast 🔙 Option to automatically backup the database 🔀 Ability to reorder home screen sections … and more
AntennaPod has been growing for well over a decade, lead by several main developers. With contributions from many, the code structure grew more and more complex. The past three years we spent restructuring code to make our beloved app clean, lean, and ready for the future. All while releasing new features and fixes! Hi @samsethi There seems to be a misunderstanding of what we're trying to achieve here. The Open Podcast API is about allowing a single user to sync their podcast app data between (instances of) apps: playback position, favourite y/n, listened status of episodes; queue content and order. E.g. if I listen to episode X until 22:02 on Podverse on my computer, I can continue listening in AntennaPod on Android. It's a popular feature request. @podverse@liaizon@trashheap@semitones@benjaminbellamy
@liaizon We are involved in the "Open Podcast API". The aim is to develop an API standard for synchronising Podcast data. It relies in some (minimal) way on RSS. More info: https://openpodcastapi.org/ (there are more specs than visible on the website as/and the website is being developed). @trashheap@semitones@podverse@benjaminbellamy
Hi @podverse We're meeting on Wednesday 21:00 CEST to discuss Open Podcast API, this time with a focus on identifying episodes (and users' data linked to them) across apps. If you're considering building from the ground up with support for sync, now's definitely a great time to get on board!
Our 3.3 release is now available both on F-Droid and Google Play! What you'll find: 🚙 Android Auto improvements ⏭️ Next chapter button in notification 💅 UI polishing (including sort dialog) ➕ and more smaller fixes & improvements
ℹ️ Public service Announcement: we've moved the 'Refresh' button to the overflow menu (behind the three dots). You can also still pull to refresh.
So, it's late March. Just over a week until #GooglePodcasts gets sunset! 🌇

Today is international #MotherLanguageDay – initiated by the UN to promote, preserve & protect the languages of our world. It is our turn, now, to thank the volunteers that translate our app & documentation in so many languages!
Being able to support so many languages is not only cool, it's an important part of making tech accessible.
Dear Fedilab (@apps), @Tusky, @SubwayTooter and @tooot, Is there a single intent on Android that we could call, to open a post in either of your apps (whichever is installed)? E.g. fediverse://fosstodon.org/@AntennaPod/109800312034968652 to open that toot (or allow us to display a warning/explanation if no client is installed). For further discussions @keunes is happy to engage :-)
