@aral That's super interesting - love your blog post :-)

Any thoughts on how the Web Number should fit in the vCard format? A specific type of URL? Or maybe a SERVICE TYPE of a SOCIAL PROFILE?

(I just read a bit about this standard https://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc9554.html#name-socialprofile)

Why podcasters will want to own their podcast & followers:

TL;DR Podcaster published on Anchor, moved to another host and back (due to 'wrong download numbers'), in the process got locked out of their own podcast and lost 3k 'followers' on Spotify. If those folks had been subscribed to RSS in a proper app rather than follow through some proprietary system, there would've been much less damage. Lesson: don't tell people to follow on Spotify.

Ahh, enjoy camping! 🏕️ Hope the weather will be nice for you.

Had a great first #OpenPodcastAPI meeting yesterday. Initial focus: allowing users to sync their subscriptions & listening activity between podcatchers, webapps & sync servers.

Many thanks to the folks from @AntennaPod, @funkwhale, @kasts and @martin from Podfriend and @JonOfUs from the gPodder Nextcloud app.

Further discussions taking place here: https://github.com/orgs/OpenPodcastAPI/discussions Anyone interested in creating & implementing this open spec is welcome.
