We'd love to make Podverse data cross-compatible with other podcast apps. OPML works for transferring subscriptions, but the spec (afaik) doesn't have a way for transferring other things like listening history.

I'm not up to speed with Open Podcast API, but we're considering rewriting our tech stack over the next year. If we can build from the ground up in a way that would be compatible with AntennaPod and other apps we'd love too.

Podverse v4.15.4 Beta is now live 🛠️

- Fix video playback issues while app is in the background.
- Fix bug where video would pause after using boost screen.
- Fix excessive loading time occurring for some podcasts.
- Fix date on the boost screen for livestreams.
- Fix episode description not loading for some podcasts.
- Fix OPML import issue where the podcasts screen did not refresh after importing.

RE: live chat in Podverse

One of the most popular requests we've been getting is adding support for live chat during live streams. This would be a killer feature, but we're constrained by the fact there isn't an official 2.0 namespace for it yet.

It's also a complex issue. For ex. if a podcast uses IRC, then a user will need to log into each individual chat room. Not a great UX. But if a podcast uses XMPP or Matrix then they could log in once and join any server with the same federated account

Our preference at the moment would be XMPP, because it is a federated chat solution that is much simpler to integrate than Matrix (according to what I've heard). That said, we know we need to meet podcasters and listeners where they are at, so we're also open to IRC and/or Matrix if people can help define a path forward for us.

@Peaceandprosperity @milliman thanks for the feature requests. This is a pretty popular one...but it's not without some complexity / unreliability. I put more information in this Github request.

There are a few major initiatives ahead of it, but we would like to deliver this feature before the end of the year.

@ChadF @Mitzkahdrinnen @adam we’d like to add chat to Podverse, but afaik a Podcasting 2.0 namespace for chat hasn’t been finalized yet. Curiocaster uses a non-finalized namespace I believe, which is cool, but we’re holding off adding chat until the finalized version.
