prosperity gospel/Ayn Randism in the MAGA churches works fairly well at convincing some workers that they too can be rich some day. So who needs class action, unions, etc. They are gonna be rich.

@scottsantens yes #BasicIncome works. Until the conservatives get ahold of the program and squeeze the amounts to nothing. When conservatives support basic income schemes, be wary. How can basic income programs be shielded from conservatives and reactionaries?

@freemo The world is not that nuanced. The facts on the ground do not back up nuance. People have somewhere to live, something to eat, or they don't. That's very clear cut. The common good demands they be taken care of, the USA wealthy, by their actions, disagree. It's there for all to see.

@freemo Once again, you are putting words in my mouth. I didn't say any of that. I remember when trades people & factory workers could afford a boat & an RV, when wages were fair, now they are not. I remember when there were not many homeless families, & if there were, agencies had enough staff to help them. The current environment is because the rich have dissociated themselves from the USA, are no longer interested in the common good. They want to get rid of social security, for instance.

@wa7iut @gerrymcgovern @natureworks It would be great to strategically manage the lithium supply, but it is impossible to limit a commodity without creating black markets, smugglers, illegal mines, etc. Then the police show up & no one wants that. We just need a bigger supply. I bet there are some asteroids with minerals that the zillionaires can direct their spaceships towards. 🚀
