   I suppose that rather than thinking of this as the hottest year ever, we should think of it as the coolest year of those to come. Just for setting expectations.

     @robpike if we do everything right, both reducing our emissions and sequestering carbon, we can get back down to temperatures like this in the 2070s or 2080s.

     @natalie_perret @robpike that's a comforting fiction to excuse inaction.

     I work for a climate change non-profit. I meet with people working hard on climate change every day.

     There are millions of people working on the Transition in companies, governments, and civil society.

     Don't bet against humanity, and don't bet against the Earth.
