Overall, I have been impressed with the DNC. But disappointed in the lack of acknowledgement of the suffering and loss of life of innocent Palestinians -- especially children.
I hope Harris can at least acknowledge that, even if she avoids pointing out US funding of it for political calculations.
There are some good venn diagrams out there
What, exactly, do people mean when they say "THE Media"?
There are literally thousands of media outlets, (including Social media such as mastodon). In my opinion, the quality of journalism varies dramatically across them. But many of these outlets are diametrically opposed. Many individual outlets themselves air opposing editorials.
Does anyone think, for example, that Fox News, CNN, NPR, NY Times and The National Review are all coordinating on a master
"THE Media" plan?
@inthehands No, it is not. Its a tidy way of saying Biden should have declined to run and let the Black woman run.
Yes. And when two people disagree strongly about a topic it does not necessarily mean one is wrong and the other is right. It might just mean they have different priorities. I try and remember that while Truth does not change, priorities can and do change - including my own.

Same as it ever was: Follow the money.
The sad truth is only "AI" (those are air quotes) investments are getting new capital investment now.
And really, there is no I in AI. Its just good old fashion pattern matching -- but at an incredible scale that was not possible until CPU/data storage/network speed became cheap enough and fast enough.
@mattly It was truly amazing how fast Medium went from excellent to terrible. When Medium started it attracted passionate people who wrote well researched interesting articles with some unique topics. It hit a critical mass of subscribers, and then within a few months it turned into a stream of short fluff pieces with attention grabbing click-bait titles: everyone scrambling to please the algorithm to earn clicks and $
I wish there was a way I could pay a tiny amount to read a single paywalled article.
Ad-Sponsored content is a disaster, and I think real journalism should be paid. But I can't afford dozens/hundreds of subscriptions to read all the potentially worthwhile articles.
I would like to load up $10 into a paywall account and then spend a few cents one-at-a-time to read shared articles from trusted contacts.
Recommenders should not be financially incentivized to promote articles!

I hear you and I have similar feelings. But I also wonder about "Us". People vote with their dollars. And too often "We" vote for cheap stuff and connivence, we vote for distractions, we ignore real problems, and we cheer the moguls who has figured out how to rig the system.
