To discover Lemmy and Kbin communities, try LemmyVerse. They scan multiple instances daily to ensure the full catalog of things to subscribe to. As soon as you find a community of interest, you can copy its URL and paste in the search bar of your instance, it will perform a lookup.
@feditips Duh, I completely forgot that you can press the 🔔 and get notifications for less frequent posters on #Mastodon! (Even though it's only supported in third-party apps at the moment.)
@feditips What happened to regional indicator symbols? Many emoji pickers seem to have forgotten about these letters. Probably because it's Latin... and there are, like, hundreds more languages to cover. Still, I find it a bit disappointing.
I gave #Kbin another try, took a less popular instance without Cloudflare, create a magazine with appropriate tags in settings.
When I go and make a post on Mastodon with one of those tags AND even mention the group where magazine resides (just in case), but nothing makes the post appear on Kbin.
You can imagine my disappointment, as I promoted the shit out of Kbin prematurely and how it's suppoed to fetch remote posts - NOPE, doesn't work. 🤔 😔
@feditips I'd say it's the opposite that *confused* me, personally. I looked in their channels through PeerTube and noticed that both channel and account are barely different.
But the advise is right on the money - first and foremost, you would want to maintain your channel's brand on Fediverse, rather than what could be a simple Mastodon microblog for your personal posts.
And here I have some computer nerd tell me that Lemmy/Mastodon are dead and their apps are dead interfaces. I don't follow this train of thought. I like this place.
Are you proposing a whitelist approach or defederate with anything that remotely resembles a bot mob from #Meta (#P92)? It can make #Fediverse look like digging its own hole in defencelessness, to be frank. Isn't this supposed to be an opposite that we do: absorb the #SocialMedia and let people choose what they really want in their feed?
Temporary #Minetest server is available within @fsf conference: #LibrePlanet2023. The spawn is not as crowded as I expected it to be, but hey - if times will overlap, maybe we'll have some great time - who knows!
/mods: all the default minetest mods (except tnt, carts, buckets), protector.
