HUGE #news from #Germany: The #Verfassungsschutz (a spy agency) now has branded the #AfD party as "gesichert rechtsextremistisch", i.e. as certainly extreme rightwing politically.
OK, *that* the AfD is extreme right wansn’t news to political scientists.
But this news is special because many politicians said they will consider voting for starting a legal process that may trigger a party ban (for being anti-constitution) depending on the Verfassungsschutz' report.
Just to be clear: If #Google decides it’s okay to no longer send non-Gmail users the ACTUAL #email, but only a LINK to some bullshit #proprietary service that you must click to “unlock” the TRUE contents, then Gmail ceases to be an email provider but is merely a spam service which bullies unsuspecting users into using their proprietary crap.
While this seems to be limited to (fake) E2E for now, I’m afraid it could get worse if people do not resist.
HUGE #news from #Germany: The #Bundestag will soon debate a possible ban of the fashist party #AfD which currently polls at ~20% (WTF).
Party bans are legal in Germany but difficult. This mechanism exists in the constitution as a last resort to stop #Nazi Germany to rise again.
A ban can be requested by a majority of Bundestag, Bundesrat (basically the parliament), or the government. Then it goes to The Federal Constitutional Court which has the final say.
Context: In the last years, the AfD became more undeniably pro-#nazi. Recently, the Bavarian AfD overwhelmingly voted to be pro-"remigration" (=mass deportation/ejection). Influencial AfD people keep saying nazi shit like slogans of the SA or SS. Chancellor candidate Alice Weidel made the rounds for historical revisionism (she claimed Hitler was a communist). Oh, the AfD also hates LGBT (mostly the T).
And the list of awful just goes on and on and on …
LOL: After #Facebook/#Meta allowed to call #LGBT people mentally ill (WHY?), some LGBT employees took that literally and took sick leave for "mental illness".
Absolutely deserved. I wouldn't work for this garbage company in the first place (it's the worst data leech), but I approve of this #MaliciousCompliance 100%.
> Economic exclusion, which means denying access to economic entitlements and limiting participation in the labor market. We do allow content arguing for gender-based limitations of military, law enforcement, and teaching jobs. We also allow the same content based on sexual orientation, when the content is based on religious beliefs.
@GossiTheDog I also love how paperthin the pretense is.
"Nooo, you can't argue for banning LGBTQ people from teaching, that would be mean 🙁 ... UNLESS you can come up with a some bullshit religious argument, then it's okay because we love RELIGIOUS FREEDOM!!1!1! 🦅🎆🦅🎆🦅🎆"
@GossiTheDog Good riddance! Defederation is totally justified 👍, we don't need to open the floodgates for bigotry.
It's not even that they are permissive about speech. It's that they EXPLICITLY single out marginalized groups as a special case where discrimination is allowed.
This policy is ITSELF discrimination because it applies a double standard.👎
But it's not like the #Meta empire has ever been ethical before, so this is perfectly on-brand for them. 🤡
The #38C3 presentation about the massive #Volkswagen data leak is over and the leak was as bad as it sounded. 100,000s of cars could be located down to cm precision. Also a lot of metadata that is NOT supposed to be public. Disturbing.
The main takeaway was that the real problem here wasn't the leak itself, but that this data was collected in the first place.
I agree. It's not a good idea to create mountains of very personal data and then pray it never leaks.
The term "open source" is broken anyway. Corporations constantly try to redefine this term in a way that gives them all the free press while having zero of the responsibilities.
To corporations, the official definition of "open source" is "whatever we feel like it". They don't give a single shit about the actual history and values.
The term "open source" is a lost cause, I prefer the term "free software" which corporations are MUCH more scared to use for some reason. 😉
Just because you're a man or a woman, i.e. part of the (obviously) two biggest gender identities doesn't mean all the other gender identities are fake.
#Gender is social, and genderdiversity was known for a very long time through human history and cultures.
It is easy to make fun of it all and ridicule it. It's easy but weak. True strength comes from LISTENING to people who don't fit into the norm. Because they exist, and they have feelings, needs, wishes, like we all do. Don't dismiss them.
OpenStreetMap is awesome. But vandalism to get an unfair advantage in a game (#cheating) is not.
But I also blame Pokémon Go; the game should have never trusted a source data blindly in the first place; if you know the Internet, you should have predicted this.
When a nation "bans #TikTok", it is not really banning TikTok. It is banning its *citizens* from TikTok. The "ban TikTok" movement is a pro-#censorship movement.
I'm pro-#FreeSoftware, so I'm now in an awkward position. I have to both condemn and defend TikTok. Condemn, because it's an awful #proprietary#spyware that has direct connections to an oppressive regime and I think it should not be used by anyone ever. I also feel obliged to "defend" it in that I hate #Internet censorship.
