I find Palo Alto particularly stifling among Bay Area "cities" because of the high density of particularly loathsome type of moneyed technocrat one encounters there.

I used to love Ulavacharu so much, but about 4 years ago something changed (someone said their chef left), and it just hasn't been nearly as good the times I tried it after that.

@skinnylatte When I went out of town and came back, my fluffy tortoiseshell would pointedly give me the cold shoulder. Then I got a cat who would be so excited when I got home, he would immediately be on my lap.

Pandora was very annoyed and astonished that he was not following her rules.

@skinnylatte I haven't tried that, although I know where it is! I used to go to the original parent restaurant (no Tiffins) all the time. They had this divine paneer biryani with horse gram soup. Then in the first year of the pandemic they changed chefs. The food became very bland .

@nova I hope it's still possible to create a profitable but genuinely mission-driven corporation, but it takes true commitment and intention.

But maybe that's wishful thinking on my part.

Ideally there would be a class of public stock which acknowledges that the mission takes some preference over pure stockholder profit.
