@silverpill think it would be useful to have a per torrent option to enable I2P. here hoping in another 20 years we will have network speeds that make multi hop overhead minuscule
@Suzu@Spooke faggots joining software projects is not about gui vs cli but potential fame. see emulation and game piracy. both give you a huge amount of attention because usually there is not much of an alternative.
for FOSS it matters little. gnome is not a DE for a proprietary OS where its forced on the user. you can use other software or even fork it.
@Suiseiseki i do use ZFS and ECC so bitrot is basically impossible. the only thing i can think of is that somehow the file never finished but QBT wrongly said it did or there is some padding but i don't know QBT good enough to say for sure.
exploits in archive, image and video files/tools are rare but its still a good idea to only use them inside of a sandbox like flatpak/bubblewrap or firejail to minimize the risk.
stuff like this is why if you worry about high level targeted attacks, secureboot is not sufficient to protect against physical attacks. cameras, microphones and other data extraction tools (e.g. SURLYSPAWN, COTTONMOUTH, FIREWALK) are easier to install and hide than touching the actual device itself. the only effective protection would be to physically improve the devices location like no visual like windows and surveillance to spot intruders.
this is some grade A gaslighting turning around reality to spread FUD. Reminds me of Denuvo DRM trying to make it sound there goal is protecting the user instead of corpos purses.
"This trust is the backbone of the open internet, critical for the safety of user data and for the sustainability of the website’s business."
if "poor website have to trust the bad bad user" is the backbone of the internet its high time to kick it down the stairs face first.
@Xeraser 1. anti cheat on linux has less privileges than on windows 2. if somebody wants to run this game they don't have to use windows which is worse than any anti cheat could ever be 3. anti cheat working means more people are likely to switch to linux and care about this shit
>kernel level anticheat that starts with your system and you can't disable there are no kernel level anti cheat on linux. they run in user space
>doesn't close when the game stops running this depends on the AC. EAC and battle eye only run while the game does
@bleedingphoenix@theorytoe@Xeraser nobody ever argued they not a pain. its about making it possible *if you want* also again linux anti cheat implementation is less invasive than on windows (thats the reason devs still deny supporting linux). so its still an improvement over what we had.
the more application linux support the more likely it is for more people to switch to it and maybe start to care too and no being a extremist has never made the average joe change sides.
if no one cares about freedom and privacy you, the individual will suffer too. you can stick your head in the sand and go "i don't care i don't use it" until you have no other choice and wonder why you are alone (see firmware, TPM and secure boot).
i care because i care about the future and if that means making short term compromised to maybe have a little bigger chance in the long term then so be it.
>if i'm on linux i'm probably there to avoid that garbage.
you are still free to avoid them, nothing changes
>because they can't run anticheats?
no because anti cheat is less invasive than on windows. it has gotten better because of steam deck but still about 45% of them don't enable linux compatibility.
