Administrators need to find out by themselves therefore, which is a problem, as Microsoft does not give any hints what to look for. Administrators may spend hours evaluating systems to find potential breakage."

They resolved a bug with Coreboot that allowed System76 to go ahead and re-disable Intel ME on relevant devices. DarkMahesvara (darkmahesvara@varishangout.net)'s status on Tuesday, 30-May-2023 21:28:16 JST DarkMahesvara @Narbray no point in arguing with FSE people about that stuff. they dont wanna understand that the average user will never go from 0 to 100 FOSS.
1. its a gradual process. first you make people aware you can run better FOSS software on a proprietary OS.
2. then you make the FOSS OS run just as good as the proprietary one and would you look at that all the FOSS software they already used works best on FOSS OS.
3. then maybe someday if we lucky and have enough people that care we might get the proprietary software become FOSS.
the last step very likely is a pipe dream but like you said even getting people to step 2 is a desirable improvement where change is possible. In conversation from varishangout.net permalink -

DarkMahesvara (darkmahesvara@varishangout.net)'s status on Friday, 26-May-2023 22:30:13 JST DarkMahesvara @silverpill what exactly do you mean by "saved without extension"? afaik removing the extensions does not prevent a file from being executed (at least on unix) or do you mean revoking executing permission like with chmod? and even that would not prevent the file from being somehow process by pleroma in a vulnerable way (i could be totally wrong tho). The presentation also noted that beyond AMD openSIL code being open-source, the openSIL specification will also be open. AMD "invites every silicon vendor" to participate in this open-source system firmware endeavor. "
