the more application linux support the more likely it is for more people to switch to it and maybe start to care too and no being a extremist has never made the average joe change sides.
if no one cares about freedom and privacy you, the individual will suffer too. you can stick your head in the sand and go "i don't care i don't use it" until you have no other choice and wonder why you are alone (see firmware, TPM and secure boot).
i care because i care about the future and if that means making short term compromised to maybe have a little bigger chance in the long term then so be it.

you are still free to avoid them, nothing changes

no because anti cheat is less invasive than on windows. it has gotten better because of steam deck but still about 45% of them don't enable linux compatibility.
