I could imagine the situation being the same, but now you have x more years dealing with communists.

I suspect they operated similar to Social Security on that front.

They've slit their own throats when they've never been profitable despite being spun off as a quasi-private entity existing to help subsidize Amazon.
Regarding the conspiring to destroy them, the only thing I've seen is the requirements for them to set aside retirement funds for their new-hires. Move to a 401k or equivalent and the problem goes away as the tax payers aren't exposed.

SirHoneyBadger (51rh0n3y84d93r@noagendasocial.com)'s status on Wednesday, 20-Sep-2023 07:31:31 JST SirHoneyBadger @aj @Johncdvorak not to get too pedantic, but it's the internet, the USPS is not mandated, but post offices and roads seemingly are. See the Cato article that suggests it can be better privatized. Ron Paul had mentioned this in the past with allowing for competition with first class mail: https://www.cato.org/blog/us-postal-service-constitution
But good discussion, I learned more than I ever wanted to about mail and the fact the post office and roads are in fact mandated.

SirHoneyBadger (51rh0n3y84d93r@noagendasocial.com)'s status on Wednesday, 20-Sep-2023 07:31:30 JST SirHoneyBadger @Johncdvorak @aj remove the prohibition of competition with first class mail; that is not in the constitution as it's a law written after the fact. Competition can fill the need while still being constitutional.
I'd argue your point is similar to demanding a state-ran grocery store. How are people supposed to get food without the state?

SirHoneyBadger (51rh0n3y84d93r@noagendasocial.com)'s status on Saturday, 22-Jul-2023 03:03:45 JST SirHoneyBadger @Moon I've wondered how hard it would be to have a server act as a middleware to capture posts and relay them to the client device so your phone doesn't have to battery-drain to constantly check all the relays. I know it goes against the p2p model, but it would likely scale better.
