     @mia i have had repeat problems developing this latest thing as a direct result of mastodon management and the dominance of mastodon in installed servers, even if we get better fedi stuff as long as mastodon dominates they can fuck me at any time.

     @Moon I've wondered how hard it would be to have a server act as a middleware to capture posts and relay them to the client device so your phone doesn't have to battery-drain to constantly check all the relays. I know it goes against the p2p model, but it would likely scale better.

     @mia i just had a sudden realization that the current thing i'm building, my original idea that i had to ditch because of mastodon decisions hassles, would be completely doable with no problems on nostr.
     
     i'm working around mastodon issues and still working on current thing, i just had that realization and it changed my attitude a bit regarding nostr.

     The way to put them on the back foot is to force them to build compatibly with you, just only serve to known good backends and break from their standards.

     @colonelj I'm willing to humor you. It's because I have been trying to code a fediverse game (that has NOTHING TO DO with crypto) for the last week and I keep running into Mastodon issues that prevent me from making what I envisioned. At some point I realized that it would have just worked on Nostr without any bullshit and people there wouldn't go apeshit about me being on a blocklist.

     @colonelj u want to know a secret? I don't want a grant, in fact I have done grant work before and I don't like the process or expectations. I would be amenable to making a neat game or something that collects bitcoin from zaps. I am not actually highly motivated by gaining more money, I was happy when I was working for a decent wage and I'm happy now. I like this stuff because I think decentralization is really neat.
