It was absolutely the same for me.

Yeah ... lots of folks didn't like the "no algorithm" and the appearance of less activity. So, they went back to Twitter.
(I say "appearance of less activity" because so much of the "activity" on Twitter is fake. Fake followers. Fake engagement. RTs from fake accts. Fake views. Manipulation of posts for algo boosts. etc.)
The addiction to the appearance of popularity is a huge problem.
@falcennial @dannotdaniel @jeff @tchambers
Yes ... following people and actually engaging matters on Mastodon.
Regretfully, too many who were used to larger accounts on Twitter were accustomed to hanging out in DM rooms with their friends and just sending out posts to be algo-pushed. No real engagement.
This platform is different in that being social is part of it. It takes a bit of effort.
Wait. You're telling me that the corrupt Supreme Court judge who purposefully didn't report a bunch of expensive trips paid for by mega-rich GOP donors still hasn't completely come clean about his nefarious activities ....
Who woulda thunk it .....
(Many facepalms and endless sarcasm)
I never donate to politicians (single mom ... so, not a lot of disposable cash) ...
But I just donated to Kamala Harris.
For my daughters.
For my grandchild.
For democracy.
I cannot friggin believe we are still having this stupid discussion ....
For the record, I'm still voting against the rapist. WHOEVER is on the ticket, I'm voting Dem.
My biggest concern with the ongoing shit-show is that a big enough percentage of people will be demotivated by it all to the point of *not* voting ... thus allowing the RAPIST to win.
Mental health suggestion:
Turn off the news.
We likely know everything tonight that we're going to know.
Even if some tidbit comes out tonight ...
Nothing breaks or stops if you find out that new information tomorrow instead of tonight.
But watching and rewatching the same info and images over and over and over isn't good for anyone.
@LouisIngenthron @heidilifeldman
Which MSM outlets have pushed (for weeks) for Trump to drop from the race because he was found to be a rapist? Or because he was found guilty of dozens of felonies?
Rapist vs "too old" are not remotely equivalent.
It's absolutely proper to criticize journalists and media outlets who don't see rape & felonies as worse than old age.
@LouisIngenthron @heidilifeldman
Why did you avoid my question?
Or, do you agree with the media that being too old is worse than rape?
Did anyone -- anywhere -- actually believe that Ron Johnson didn't understand what he was doing?
"Sen. Ron Johnson's claim he knew nothing about a fake electors plot isn't believable"
"Johnson initially claimed he didn’t know about the plot, but recent documents — including text messages — show that Johnson and his staff were told explicitly about the plot to deliver the fake electoral votes."

Pundits absolutely do not grasp the fact that Trump's trial's value does NOT rest on whether or not it "moves voters" if he's convicted.
The VALUE is accountability.
The VALUE is a working system of law that functions--regardless of whom the person happens to be or what position that person holds.
Treating it like "no biggie" because voters APPEAR unmoved is great messaging -- for Trump.
When you have to guide a *judge* through basic legal processes, an intellectual smack-down is absolutely called for.
"Special counsel rips judge's jury instructions request in Trump classified documents case"
Just wanted to say kudos to you for caring enough to do this.
I used to report (what I'm guessing is) the same type of content on Twitter ... for hours (often daily). There were just so many.
It's horrific & emotionally draining. But, egads, it's necessary (crucial, really) for decent people to step in.
So, thank you.
Also ...
Assume they go to the bathroom 4 times per day. So, they wash their hands after each bathroom visit.
They eat 4 times per day (3 meals and a snack, so they wash their hands each time prior to eating.
That's 8 times right there.
How is that "germophobic"?
A President *JFK) quite literally championed his presence on Chuck Yeager's team
The President sent people to check on him and make sure he was doing okay while he was with Chuck Yeager's team.
YET he still suffered racism. And Yeager himself set the example that the racism was okay.
Within just days of the President's assassination, this eminently qualified, intelligent, kind man was booted out of the program.
Do not tell me DEI isn't absolutely essential.

Pretty much sums up my convo with my 13 yr old last night--for when she turns 18.
Me: "I don't care if you hate politics. I don't care if you find it boring. Always look up who's running & ALWAYS vote."
I gave examples of times when races were *extremely* close & horrible people who did horrible things won.
Showing her the huge # of non-voters reinforced how easy it would have been to have a better outcome--if people had just voted.
(She fully understood at just 13.)
That ANY confusion exists about this is .... really fucked up.
But, since there is ... thank you for pointing it out (loudly and clearly). 🤟
Love how strongly Biden is denouncing political violence.
Excellent. More of that, please.
Oof. That's a poor assumption.
I don't want to see Twitter in my feed because I don't want to (even incidentally) support Twitter's UNETHICAL owner.
Same for Zuck.I left FB long ago because of his UNETHICAL behavior.
Aside from Zuck's willingness to enable genocide--cuz' profit, he tried to sell depressed kids' info to advertisers--cuz' profit. Kids. FFS.

I whole a lot of people care more about the ethics than the "interoperability."
Yep. I have no problem at all with what you posted 🤟
Just wanted to add an extra tip (from experience) for the more cautious folks ... like me.
Social media researcher, mom, philosophy grad, and book lover. I loathe fake accounts and platform manipulation. #nobot
