It astounds me that there are those who claim to come from our shared ideological tradition who are incapable of seeing, regardless of policy choices vis a vis US support, who is the aggressor in this conflict.

That some straight-up side with the imperialist heirs to the Soviet Union — a Communist country! — is even more astounding.

@sneak @calcifer Closeted priests stay in the closet because they would be castigated within their peer group if they came out. It is the path of least resistance.

Trans people who “come out” are frequently castigated — losing friends, family — and are frequently subject to violence. Doing so is a path featuring nothing BUT resistance.

Virtually no cis person would sign up for that just to make a political point.

Musk’s latest decree banning the promotion of Mastodon on Twitter is an obvious attempt to stymie services like Movetodon/FediFinder.

Suggestion: These services should allow users to validate identity by posting an innocuous but 100% unique plain English phrase in their Twitter bio known only to the identifier service.

Alternatively, if the account is public, a public tweet could be used.

Musk can’t police that — certainly not through automated means.
