@rephlex00 You are confusing LLM from the rest of AI. Training an LLM would require the output of nuclear reactor. Once the model is extracted, it can and does run on a cell phone, albeit, it runs better when the processor has a special AI core.
Your cell phone use AI everyday for every thing you use it for.

@fsf He, it is easier to make a multiple clip movie in Blender than it is with commercial movie making tools...at least ones I could afford.

@socprof @GottaLaff I believe what we are seeing today is the attraction of the true believers. I know there are at least two short sellers who have a big bundle ($20M and $16M) on it. I've been wondering why.
I think they know it is a pump and dump and their going to use the $36M to aid and abet the fall when it dumps. I'm sure they have shorts on a date somewhat short of Trump's six months ban on selling. It sure would be sweet if they dumped at five months three weeks and four days.
I'm sure they know that the evaluation for the stock is about 5% to 10% of what it was trading for at close. I'm sure they know if they can trigger a panic it would go lower than that.

@HistoPol @DemocracyMattersALot The reason the FAA allowed Boeing to self cert in the first place was due to GOP budget restrictions.

    @housepanther @ministerofimpediments @selzero Homily time.
My dad was a signal maintainer. In moderate weather, he wore a sports coat.
A signal maintainer is a dirty job. At the end of the day, he looked quite a bit worse for wear (IMHO much better than Trump).
He stopped by a local bar on the way home from work. A couple of guys from Chicago were bragging to each other about where they went to college. Then they asked him, "Where did you go to school, Erw (irv)?"
    "Oxford"
He went to a small town high school in Oxford, WI. He also went two years to MSOE, but had to drop out because of the depression. But, he know the 'Oxford' would shut them up...it did.

@MnemosyneSinger I have never figured this out. When I was young, my male friends who enjoyed sex with multiple partners were some kind of hero. My female ones, actually acquaintances, having a reputation of enjoying sex with multiple partners was looked down upon.
    I'm 82 and I still haven't figured it out.

@FluentInFinance There are two things to remember about the current discourse on AI.
    1. It is mostly hype or somebody pontificating after sitting under a banyan tree smoking peyote
    2. It isn't all hype or pontificating.

@abreaction @RealJournalism Cities need to convert old factories into vertical farms. It will put some of the unemployed to work. It will make the cities independent of the grocery conglomerates and unregulated overseas agricultural products.

@fsf The reason the US Constitution gives for the PTO is to promote science and the arts. There are many areas, where grating a patent, a trademark, or a copyright runs dead against that raison d'etre.
On my list of things to spend my lottery winnings on (if I ever buy a ticket) is to pick a patent that fits in that class and sue it out of existance.

@thomasfuchs It is not that AI is replacing all writers or all programmers or all artists, but it will definitely replace marginal artists, programmers, and writers. Where that margin is is yet to be determined.
When I started in aerospace an engineering organization was task oriented with eight engineers, a secretary, a draftsman, a tech aide, and a supervisor. There was one manager for eight such teams.
When I left the business, a team was about 20 engineers with a supervisor or team leader. There was one admin at the next level. The change was all due to process automation with a paradigm shift thrown in for good measure.
In the 1970s, when I first drove through metro Chicago on a regular basis, the Chrysler Blevidere plant ran 24/7 with a full parking lot. A few years back, when I went by, they were running one shift with a lot 1/3 full...and making more cars. That was due to automation. That is seen throughout US mfg. It is due to automation.
