@feld to be clear, the members of the co-op are legally the owners. But the board, which is supposed to represent our interests, is extremely corporate and anti-union. I have written to the board before and have even looked into how to run for the board and have not gotten far. It appears that the co-op structure is more a marketing ploy than a move toward internal democracy.

Let's all support the REI union, which is suing the "coop" owners for violations of labor law.

@Suiseiseki there's a difference between "I want" and "I don't care"

@ErikUden Hardcover books should come with a chip built in that contains the audio and digital versions of the book. I don't care if there is some sort of DRM that requires the book to be nearby for it to work. All I want is to have an included audio version that I own. In the 20 years since digital books have been popular I have probably bought two and maybe 10 audiobooks. I would buy so many more if I could actually own them.

Remember when the big culture war issue in the US was "Sharia law"? Maybe OReilly, Hannity etc never knew who their friends were.

A friend with cancer got COVID-19 in a hospital while getting chemo. He now has pneumonia.

@ebooksyearn I have yet to forgive the Internet for ditching Flickr, first for Facebook and then for Instagram. Dreadful loss.

@ebooksyearn My recollection is that Yahoo bought it because stock market analysts were telling it to grow & keep up with Insta, but Yahoo had no idea what to do with it. I do like Flickr and have stuff there and its iNaturalist integration is very good.

(iNaturalist is the best single-owner "social" network on the internet)
