That weird feeling you get in your fingertips when swirling them about a metal laptop case while its plugged in charging.
Its strangely satisfying.

#MastoAdmin question, what does it mean when the `tootctl media remove` command outputs: "Switching object-storage from red to green" ?
@david_chisnall your experience is how I expected mine to be if I had actually given the technology a chance.
Machine learning has been useful for decades, mostly quietly. The red flag against LLMs for me (aside from the authorship laundering and mass poaching of content) was there scramble by all companies to shoehorn it into their products, like a solution looking for a problem; I’ve yet to see it actually solve.
@tim that’s some very cool history. Have you written in detail somewhere about how it all came about and the adventures you had along the way? Because that’s the kind of book I love to read.
Rather than working on my game, I have spent the past thirty minutes playing it because its fun...
I've never before got to this point in #GameDev where playing my game for the sake of playing has been natural. It's always been in hunt of bugs, or during development.
Nice.
@lukito I absolutely love interfaces like these, skeuomorphic design should make a comeback.
@urbanfoxe this is good advice, but also I hadn’t thought about using a QR code on a presentation to make it easy to obtain slides and notes by participants… which probably says more about the last time I went to a presentation more than anything :sootsprite:
@feld @ajroach42 that’s the whole point of https://solar.lowtechmagazine.com which is also an idea I love.
I absolutely loved watching your talk @TodePond. For the best part of this year I have had Tadi web on my list of things to look at, am glad I got to watch you explain it, albeit via video rather than in person.
@aral thank you for sharing and for all you do to promote the small web.
Just absolutely wasted the evening browsing shorts on YouTube for three hours! I don’t even know how that’s possible but the last I looked at the time it was 9pm and it’s now past midnight :psyduck:
They are legit digital crack.
@goatsarah i've previously upgraded because the battery became too weak to hold a charge; although getting five years daily usage out of a somewhat fragile device is pretty decent in my books.
I did concider upgrading before hardware failure forced my hand in order to obtain a better camera until I remembered I have a compac camera that's still better than phone cameras which I have since bought a new battery for and use instead.
Love me some hotdog car.
@babe @lanodan I’ve been here so long I’ve forgotten so much of the drama and lore.
This is a test, to make sure I didn't break uploads.
I kept telling 4yo it was chilly out so they had to wrap up warm. They refused. I eventually discovered why, when I asked if they knew what chilly meant they replied spicy. So when I said it was chilly outside they though I meant hot 😆
Hang about! IQC still exists :gonzo:
@annika something happens when you manage to get 30 of them, I don't know what because I have yet to achieve that 😅
Can you catch 30 ghosts?
I have yet to catch 30 ghosts :ghost_owo:
@evan the answer as with some things, is that it depends.
I would say credentials such as database details should only exist as env variables or config file; they may be useful for testing if allowed to be set via cli args and only ever via a web interface if its an installer.
For things such as pagination_n_items having them settable by all of the above is fine, with a web interface being the overrider.
How do different people prefer to set config?
Terminally online, mostly harmless.I like old computers, retro games and combining the two with some vintage game dev.My day job involves building web based things with PHP.
