@Chronic-Yonic What do you mean she's part of the Pet trans crowd? She likes to dress up like a dog?
I've never interacted with her personally, so I can't say anything about her character nor about her being a 'head girl' who dominates other GC's. But her writing about gender Ideology really resonated with me and her post about Butler in particular. I think this conversation about Left vs. right patriarchal authoritarianism is important. Despite what she might have done, I'd still want to know how we can fix this.
"Sexual violence, especially rape, is being used as a weapon of war in Sudan. Many women are facing displacement. We hear from survivors, humanitarian workers and activists shedding light on the resilience and survival of Sudanese women during this humanitarian crisis."
"I think the world is very desensitised to African suffering, because if we are looking at numbers, Sudan is the biggest humanitarian crisis ongoing in the world and it's not getting enough coverage" –– Omnia Mustafa, activist
"It started out as a war between two generals, but right now, this is a proxy war that is being funded by outside groups, namely UAE and other countries as well. It has started as ethnic violence (arab settlers vs. non arabs or indigenous Africans) but it has spread throughout Sudan" –– Yara Hamoud, displaced woman
"Women are saying they are being used as a weapons, the battle between the RSF (Sudanese Rapid Support Forces) and SAF (Sudanese Armed Forces) are being fought on their bodies, women are the conflict zone" –– Hiba Morgan, Al Jazeera Correspondant
"The RSF were asking for girls, so the people of the village gathered every single woman and locked them in a hole, and the men of the village sat outside with weapons to protect the women" –– Omnia Mustafa, activist
"There are abuses on both sides. A lot of rogue units as well as Official units (SAF- sudanese armed forces) have resorted to sexual violence. In Sudanese Culture, Violence against Women is used as a tool to humiliate men." ––Yara Hamoud
Fawzia Koofi, exiled MP of Afghanistan on women's situation in Afghanistan:
"Over the past 6 months they have issued a law with 135 Articles, most of them are about oppressing women, to the extent that women cannot go to nursing classes. In 5 years time maternal mortality or child mortality will probably rise again, because Afghanistan was already the worst place to be a mother or a child."
"At the Doha Peace Talks in 2019/ 2020 the Taliban said women could become Ministers, get PHDs, be in business. (...) They were lying to get that agreement signed with the United States. The US should hold them accountable."
What is going to take?
"It’s a combination of many efforts. Codifying gender apartheid and holding the Taliban accountable before the national rule and order, stopping the money that goes directly to the Taliban, holding them accountable to in the Doha agreement and giving women a space to organise for political opposition. Three years after the collapse we still don’t have an office for women’s groups. "
@taylan I keep thinking about this a lot. It's confusing. But yeah, he did use anti-capitalist rhetoric to lure workers in. But what was the 'socialism' in National Socialism? 🤔 Let's break it down...
Communism = Aims for a classless society → Socialism = A stage in Marxist theory that describes how to achieve that classless society via state control over the means of production and wealth distribution. A method for achieving this is a planned economy, like in the Soviet Union.
Nazism = Aims for a racially homogenous state based on the belief in the superiority of the Aryan race → Socialism = State intervention in the economy, but private property and capitalist structures remained intact. Corporations were to prioritize state goals (e.g., production of weapons). There were welfare programs for Aryans, but achieving economic equality was not a goal. Workers’ unions were replaced by a state-controlled labor organization, and workers couldn't organize independently.
Thus, the 'socialist' aspect of Nazism was corporatism. But Nazis were anti-Marxist—they rounded up communists and trade unionists right from the start. They were anti-capitalist ONLY in the sense that they blamed influential rich Jews for exploiting the working class.
So, Hitler was not a socialist. The collective Left is not 'communist' either. In fact, the only communist party in Germany is the MLPD (Marxist-Leninist Party of Germany), and they hold zero political power.
It's a false statement to say that 'communists' or 'socialists' enabled transgender ideology. In fact, in Germany, it was the FDP (Liberals / Center-right), SPD (Social Democrats / Center-left), and The Greens (Progressives / Center-left but becoming more left) who introduced the Self-ID law.
And none of these parties are communists. In fact, the only party that can be seen as a 'relic' of communism, but holds only little power, is the newly formed BSW (Bündnis Sarah Wagenknecht). The founder, Sarah Wagenknecht, was previously a member of Die Linke (The Left). She's rather conservative and opposes Self-ID, prostitution, and surrogacy. She's also critical of capitalism, globalization, and unregulated immigration, so BSW differs from the Establishment-Leftist parties, which typically focus on internationalism and open borders. When she left Die Linke, she stated that the party was moving away from its core socialist principles and focusing more on identity politics.
Let's recap: Nazis weren't communists nor socialists. Communist parties didn't introduce Self-ID (I’m saying this because I keep reading gender-critical tweets that say the opposite). And lastly, in my personal opinion, left-leaning parties were overrun by neoliberalism, with its emphasis on market-driven personal freedom and individual self-expression. This isn’t a socialist construct. After the 1980s, in response to the failure of state-led models of socialism, neoliberalism was adopted by many center-left parties, as seen in the Labour Party in the UK, the SPD in Germany, and the Democratic Party in the U.S. These parties have abandoned much of their traditional social democratic or socialist platforms in favor of market-friendly reforms.
Socialism traditionally focuses on class struggle and economic equality, whereas gender identity politics centers around individual self-expression and personal identity, which are more rooted in liberal and postmodern ideologies, rather than the materialist and class-based framework of socialism.
Sorry for this monstrous post. I needed to get this off my chest. 😅
„The US, red or blue, has for years ignored the rights of self-determination of smaller countries, flouted United Nations norms, incited rebellions and wars around the globe, bombed innocent civilians to oblivion (this does not include the tens of thousands killed by its copious supply of arms), and made a mockery of the post-World Wars imaginary of a world united by cooperation and fraternity.“
„Thus, the thunderstruck reactions to Trump’s desire to purchase Greenland are a bit rich. Trump has also cast covetous eyes on Canada and the Panama Canal. He justifies his claims: “for national security purposes”, “for the free world”, “for economic security”. The US bombed Iraq too for democracy and the free world.“ Trump is simply stating openly what has long been closet American policy.“
„We are witnessing in real time the takeover of governance by big capital. The neon-lit, fossil-fuel-guzzling, Big-Mac-munching neoliberal beast that the US unleashed is slouching towards its logical conclusion—full political power. The billionaires in Trump’s team are together reportedly worth about $400 billion, more than the GDP of many countries. And, when oligarchs rule the world, it would be stupid to imagine them worrying about the environment or trees or indigenous people. If Greenland is on Trump’s agenda, it is because its icy surface is known to hide resources like oil, gas, and rare earth minerals that big business craves.“
While we may have our disagreements, let’s strive to approach each other with respect and maturity. Let's not be like men.
I am critical of the mistreatment of women under all religions, including Islam. Issues like child marriage undeniably exist, as do individuals who are so deeply indoctrinated that they are willing to die for their beliefs. However, it’s impossible to paint all Muslims as terrorists, rapists, or pedophiles. Just as women or feminists are not a monolith —no group of people united by a single belief system can ever be identical in all their views or actions.
That said, acknowledging this doesn’t make me an apologist. I’ve debated with many Muslim men, and many of them have demonstrated the same misogynistic attitudes found in non-Muslim men. Misogyny is their shared belief system. So let's just be real here about who we are up against. As for the Israel-Palestine conflict, it is undeniably a complex and deeply rooted struggle, tied to land, identity, and history, with both sides suffering from extremist factions advocating for annihilation. I wouldn't believe what someone is saying based on subtitles. It doesn't mean it's not true, but, I would always remain suspicious and critical.
Can we talk about 'Sexologists'? Are these people disciples of the Marquis de Sade?
"In an idyllically sex positive world, someone is able to pay conscious women to come and be drugged so that I can get my kink out, my fetish on having sex with unconscious people, there's a consensual way to do that". –– said queer sex therapist Sonalee Rashatwar in a BBC Interview in 2023, in response to the Bill Cosby sexual assault cases.
She goes even further, saying if 'people' were allowed to do that, It could prevent these types of cases. Really? I wonder, what Dominique Pelicot would have done differently, If he could have paid for his living necrophilia fetish? Nothing. This man watched as 80 other men raped his wife. What 'solution' do you have for that, Sonalee? Your sex positive Utopia is a bottomless pit, Sonalee.
Sexology = Freeing every depraved sexual fantasy of men.
@taylan Yes, me too. Sarah Wagenknecht is a political underdog. She criticised the Left long before the mainstream and then she went ahead and founded her own party. I‘m hoping BSW makes the 5%.
@taylan And we desperately need a renaissance of Feminism. Whatever this mainstream feminism is, it has de-centered women a long time ago. It morphed into a lobby group for men and corporations. And we need to set the record straight.
@taylan Al least we can hope for an amendment of the Self-ID law after the next parliamentary elections in February in Germany. CDU/CSU is planning to make changes in favor of women and children. The AfD and the BWS would reverse the law entirely. I’m hoping Europe will come to its senses but it will take a few years. The problem is that it’s predominantly the conservative parties or the political Right, that is very vocal about it. And the intellectual elite has become somewhat deaf to every criticism. Not just in Germany. It’s a war between ideologies.
