Communism = Aims for a classless society
→ Socialism = A stage in Marxist theory that describes how to achieve that classless society via state control over the means of production and wealth distribution. A method for achieving this is a planned economy, like in the Soviet Union.
Nazism = Aims for a racially homogenous state based on the belief in the superiority of the Aryan race
→ Socialism = State intervention in the economy, but private property and capitalist structures remained intact. Corporations were to prioritize state goals (e.g., production of weapons). There were welfare programs for Aryans, but achieving economic equality was not a goal. Workers’ unions were replaced by a state-controlled labor organization, and workers couldn't organize independently.
Thus, the 'socialist' aspect of Nazism was corporatism. But Nazis were anti-Marxist—they rounded up communists and trade unionists right from the start. They were anti-capitalist ONLY in the sense that they blamed influential rich Jews for exploiting the working class.
So, Hitler was not a socialist. The collective Left is not 'communist' either. In fact, the only communist party in Germany is the MLPD (Marxist-Leninist Party of Germany), and they hold zero political power.
It's a false statement to say that 'communists' or 'socialists' enabled transgender ideology. In fact, in Germany, it was the FDP (Liberals / Center-right), SPD (Social Democrats / Center-left), and The Greens (Progressives / Center-left but becoming more left) who introduced the Self-ID law.
And none of these parties are communists. In fact, the only party that can be seen as a 'relic' of communism, but holds only little power, is the newly formed BSW (Bündnis Sarah Wagenknecht). The founder, Sarah Wagenknecht, was previously a member of Die Linke (The Left). She's rather conservative and opposes Self-ID, prostitution, and surrogacy. She's also critical of capitalism, globalization, and unregulated immigration, so BSW differs from the Establishment-Leftist parties, which typically focus on internationalism and open borders. When she left Die Linke, she stated that the party was moving away from its core socialist principles and focusing more on identity politics.
Let's recap:
Nazis weren't communists nor socialists.
Communist parties didn't introduce Self-ID (I’m saying this because I keep reading gender-critical tweets that say the opposite).
And lastly, in my personal opinion, left-leaning parties were overrun by neoliberalism, with its emphasis on market-driven personal freedom and individual self-expression. This isn’t a socialist construct.
After the 1980s, in response to the failure of state-led models of socialism, neoliberalism was adopted by many center-left parties, as seen in the Labour Party in the UK, the SPD in Germany, and the Democratic Party in the U.S. These parties have abandoned much of their traditional social democratic or socialist platforms in favor of market-friendly reforms.
Socialism traditionally focuses on class struggle and economic equality, whereas gender identity politics centers around individual self-expression and personal identity, which are more rooted in liberal and postmodern ideologies, rather than the materialist and class-based framework of socialism.
Sorry for this monstrous post. I needed to get this off my chest. 😅
