Cross dressers (non-perv kind) and transvestites (same thing?) should be protected from violence like everyone else, but the way I see this going is that we'll end up having tons of creepy men from privileged backgrounds declaring themselves the most vulnerable of all and bullying women who just want to be left alone by them. Already happening in Germany.
@taylan Al least we can hope for an amendment of the Self-ID law after the next parliamentary elections in February in Germany. CDU/CSU is planning to make changes in favor of women and children. The AfD and the BWS would reverse the law entirely. I’m hoping Europe will come to its senses but it will take a few years. The problem is that it’s predominantly the conservative parties or the political Right, that is very vocal about it. And the intellectual elite has become somewhat deaf to every criticism. Not just in Germany. It’s a war between ideologies.
@eveluca I'm hopeful about the BSW. They're defined as a "socially conservative" left-wing party, but the founder is a long-time leftist, and I've faith in her conviction in women's rights and gay rights. I think the only reason she went for the "conservative" label is that people who identify as "socially liberal" have entirely lost the plot.
@taylan And we desperately need a renaissance of Feminism. Whatever this mainstream feminism is, it has de-centered women a long time ago. It morphed into a lobby group for men and corporations. And we need to set the record straight.
@taylan Yes, me too. Sarah Wagenknecht is a political underdog. She criticised the Left long before the mainstream and then she went ahead and founded her own party. I‘m hoping BSW makes the 5%.
