All the linux people on youtube are just glazing how awesome this is. No one seems to want to touch the question of the potential cost of the specific type of people this might be attracting to the community.
@cwebber@social.coop technically one might say it isn't, but that would be besides the point. You see "centralized" is only bad if it's centralized around bad people like Ramk Zuckembrog or Melon Sumk. But as long as it's centralized around nice people with a good moral compass who respect the law and have all the best intentions it's actually as good as, no! It's better than decentralized! And since it has only the best woke VCs backing it who have business plans with a goal for human societal prosperity and not RoI, we need not ask about decentralization.
@obrhoff@chaos.social@simeon@indiehackers.social@konstantin@toot.iamkonstantin.eu I don't think China has any rules that really impact them that much economically for them to care. China doesn't care much for consumer rights, they don't require them to interop or give up monopoly. They simply have to keep all data they collect within China and unconditionally share it with the CCP.
@cstross@wandering.shop@zip@wandering.shop selecting all the squares with a bus on them, but it only checks out if your mouse pointer movements are erratic and overall human enough?
