@bnys Totally. It stresses me out to carry my expensive laptop all over the world and if something happens I'm fucked because I need it to work and the data on it.

It mostly depends on the life situation. Since COVID, I work from home, and if I travel, I rarely need the performance or could survive for some time without it.

What I like about going with the combo is that I would expect the Mac Studio to outlast the MacBook Pro. I currently use an M1 Pro from 2020. I could easily survive another 2 years, but things like battery and material wear are showing their signs.

A Mac Studio could last maybe for 10 years?

@jaseg Indeed. I used to have a iMac and a Macbook Air and it was really good.

It makes me a little bit nervous that my sole computer might break when I travel since I'm totally dependent on that thing.

Also SSD Upgrades are so expensive that it seems way cheaper to just plug your external SSD into your MacStudio instead of upgrading it on a MacBook Pro.

The last time I saw him was maybe 14 years ago, and he was already very rusty but still performing. I'm glad to have seen him live.

Why is science fiction so good at predicting the future? Is it because it inspires us to build that (dystopian) future, or were the authors just very smart to think through these things?

I would say that science fiction might be part of the whole process by ideating those ideas. Maybe this future would not happen if they had never written about it?

Maybe the US is right. Maybe Europe got poorer because we outsourced everything to the US or China and are not even trying. We Europeans don’t even invest in our own economy.

If you watch KRANK Berlin on Apple TV+ and wonder where they filmed it, it was filmed at the SEZ Berlin, which will actually be demolished soon.

It was built in East Berlin as an activity center but is now more or less abandoned and sometimes used for special activities like art galleries. The last time I was there was for a Christmas party.
