Peripheral nerve transplanted and high chances of recovery ❤️🩹

I have surgery on Wednesday, and I have to admit I’m a bit nervous about it. The past months have been rough talking to many professionals that bounced me through the system without providing answers until I could find a private neurosurgeon that accepted to take on the surgery.

If we just made static site generation and deployment friendly to non-developers, we wouldn’t need hosted solutions, open-source or not. I’m amazed we haven’t evolved such concept to target a broader audience.

I'll devote part of my spare time to build tiny FOSS alternatives to existing tools. The first one, which has been in the back of my head for quite some time, is extracting the blogging engine from my Elixir website and turn it into a tool to build digital gardens. Kind of like WriteFreely or Bear blog, but with support for publishing photos and micro-posts too.

But here’s the thing: I believe this is something I can change, and I’ll start by leaning into positivity and constructivism. Sure, the world isn’t perfect, and there are things we’d rather not think about, but if we all collaborate more and push back against the individualism that’s been ingrained in us, I think beautiful things can happen. I want to be a catalyst for that change.

I wish there was a solution to easily share secrets across CI and dev environments. Maybe there’s something already?

More important than whether a project is open source or not, are their incentives and the sustainability blueprint.

There are so many open source projects that are sadly stagnating because they became unsustainable to maintain, and bringing “sustainability” into the conversation scared everyone away.
