So fun story, I was struggling with a supposed css bug - something about a shadow wasn’t right only to realise my iPhone’s screen has “burn-in” from the clock on the Lock Screen 🙈. Of course my shadow was perfect.

Docker is introducing very strict limits on unauthenticated pulls from docker hub.

The change will take effect in just a couple of days so maybe a good time to consider mirroring/moving to another registry.

Of course, I will mention how awesome it’s been since we started using a self hosted Forgejo for our containers. It’s easy, it’s fast, you make your own limits and you support 💰 fellow humans instead of Big Whales.

Is there like a quick and easy, "works everywhere" modern Makefile replacement for running tasks?

My use case is not too complicated, I create a "make dev", "make test", "make publish" in most of my repos just to obfuscate the language-specific commands (so I don't have to remember npm/swift/gradle/go/cargo all the things). Sometimes also to setup some environment variables or any cleanup/chores (e.g. starting docker stuff).

@simeon @obrhoff Let's see: Apple geoblocking individual member states from access to different products and services, spotty or missing regional support, channelling their PR arm with politically charged posts in the eve of the European Parliament elections... reads eurosceptic to me.

Edit: forgot to add the malicious implementation of every privacy or competition directive...

@obrhoff I’m not even thinking about the watch bands. The entirety of Apple has been waging some kind of eurosceptic campaign for more than two years now, this is not about the actions of some figurehead CEO. Part of the torment nexus runs on every iPhone out there.

@obrhoff I think the new switch does have a few new tricks up its sleeves (literally). Nintendo did to consoles what the iPhone did to phones - it defined a form factor that’s fit for purpose (the fact that others are trying to match it is evidence of that).

By supporting the platform for 7+ years, Nintendo is showing that we don’t need yearly iterative releases in order to get value out of it - I’ve never worried about specs or framerates. There is no “pro” or “pro max” bs, it just works.
