@ai6yr Does Bluetooth signal have enough range? The WiFi signals from mobile phones would probably be a lot easier to detect at a distance, not to mention the cellular signals from the phones.

@douglasvb A new truck would also have many new technologies installed, including probably some tracking and recording of data constantly transmitted back to the manufacturer.

@Av8rdan @sundogplanets The muzzling of NASA science has not started yet. One specific order imposed on NASA and all other US Federal agencies so far is destruction of all Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility programs, and other big one is "return to full-time work in the office". There are no instructions yet for reducing NASA work outside of DEIA. SpaceX has billions of contracts with NASA for ISS crew and cargo and lunar Human Landing System.

@demsmight Are you going to get a direct account in the Fediverse with Mastodon or Pixelfed? I follow your Threads account through the Fediverse bridge but you might want to migrate away from the Meta platforms.

@trode I used the funds from my student fellowship to buy a Mac Plus and a 20 MB hard drive. It was a luxury.

@jaztrophysicist @sundogplanets Thanks, I have not seen any developers that I know using the Cuda Fortran. It is good to know that is possible.

@sundogplanets I think Fortran is still good for computation on regular CPU’s but I don’t think it works for GPU processors.

@sundogplanets Some of the radar processing software that I use all the time has Fortran subroutines wrapped in C++ and called from Python.

@ill_logic @enzet There are plenty of other geographic features that have different names in different countries. I don’t know what OSM does for those cases. For example Gulf of Eilat vs. Gulf of Aqaba.
