@hellomiakoda Telling our kids "don't eat these" and explaining what happens if they do, seems to have done the trick. Main thing was keeping them away from the kids until they were old enough for that conversation.
Same with the exposed mains wiring in the valve amp in the living room. "Today we're going to learn about shock hazards".
Never really believed in the "child safe home" thing. Best to equip their workbench with a soldering iron, and have smoke and CO detectors, and fire extinguishers, placed liberally around the house.
Apparently, Brother may be in the process of enshittifying. I've sent Brother Australia a polite message asking for the details ...
===== Hi,
I run a Brother HL-L2445DW, and have used and recommended Brother printers for over 20 years.
I recently read in the news that Brother is rolling out firmware that breaks existing functionality - specifically, the ability to run aftermarket toner and ink.
1. Is this true? I don't believe everything I read in the news ;)
2. If so, will my model (HL-L2445DW) be affected?
Thanks for your time, and I look forwards to your reply.
Brother has long been the brand I've recommended to friends, colleagues, and family because you haven't adopted the anti-customer behaviour of all of your competitors. I'm really hoping the news is wrong on this.
1. Empty can into glass bowl, microwave for a minute or so. 2. Microwave a small pack of microwave rice. 3. Shred dace with a fork, put on rice. 4. Eat!
Currently eating "kung pao chicken" for lunch, and I have a question for Melburnians: why is "Sichuan" food here so universally bad?
Dainty and Sichuan house do good gong bao ji ding and literally everywhere else I've been doesn't.
Is it something about Melbourne customers? Is the inauthentic "stir fried chicken with a bit of chilli and no Sichuan peppers" version what people demand?
Is it something about the restaurants themselves? Are they just not set up for flash-frying? Are the sauces pre-made?
Having a very "first world problem" grump about this at the moment 🤣
@hellomiakoda Oh yeah - I meant, I explicitly wonder whether farms failing and being bought up was the end goal here? Like, is there some sort of financial / lobbying link between the people doing the cutting, and the corporations buying failing farms?
Haivng poured a glass of sparkling water into my Unicomp keyboard 😱 I'm borrowing my 8yo daughter's keyboard until a replacement arrives. It's adding quite a splash of colour to my desk 😁
@madeindex@ramin_hal9001 Imagine all the rocks that would get turned over, all the skeletons that would come out of the closet, it that were to happen.
Because the defense would certainly get to ask some really pointed questions of the complainants. Questions about their business continuity plans, system redundancies, etc. Procurement too - was proper due diligence followed in purchasing and using Crowdstrike?
Pretty sure many execs would rather set their heads on fire than have those conversations on public record.
Ouch, Vimeo has bumped their prices from ~ USD100.00 to ~ USD132.00 per year.
I don't do a lot with Vimeo - mostly just sharing videos with friends and family, many unlisted. So it feels like something I could fairly safely move self-hosted.
