A full moon above a blanket of snow is the exact brightness I wish daytime was. Everything can be seen plain as day, but it's far less intense and only slightly overstimulating.
@hellomiakoda Let them suffer. When they bitch about it, tell them it's not your fault someone sabotaged the network because they were impatient. You'll get to it when you get to it.
@IdalovesEarth@bmacDonald94 As a person who loves trees and lives in the most forested state in the US (by percentage of land area), that was an added perk for sure!
Since my timeline is full of people complaining about search engines again, I think it's time for to me to remind everyone...
Ecosia works like Google did a decade ago. What little AI it does have is sandboxed and does not impact the traditional web search. Every time I search for what I need, the correct result is on page 1, just like Google used to be.
Don't like the AI that Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, and others have been infected by? Try Ecosia! Worst case, you lose five minutes of your life.
@hellomiakoda if I didn't need a truck bed on a regular basis, I'd still be driving a Kia Soul. I've been in bigger vehicles with less passenger space.
I just reached out to the four people on Facebook who I do not have alternate contact info for. I told them I will be closing my account in a few days and gave them my contact information.
Within five minutes they all replied with their contact information. I'll be informing my D&D group tomorrow during our game. Friday, I'll deactivate.
It really is that easy. If you want to delete yours, do not let the fear of losing people stop you.
@silverwizard I concur. This is why even when I'm at my worst, I don't bail.
That, and I swore I would be a far better parent than my mother was despite my mental health issues. She walked out on us when I was 10. My youngest is 11. I sometimes have to remind myself I am factually better than my mother, despite being far more mentally ill.
@silverwizard I consider that a good thing, even if we were to ignore safety.
I've never had enough of a mastery in any specific topic to share more than basic knowledge with the kids. Truth be told, many aspects of their general knowledge exceeded mine before they hit puberty. No doubt the result of growing up in a world with more information and more connections to others.
At 10, I was playing with ninja turtles in the sandbox with my little brother. At the same age, my eldest became an artist, cosplayer, and surprisingly good TikTok user. My son, by 10, knew at least twice what I knew at that age and keeps learning more at breakneck speeds. He very much has the ADHD/ASD combo subtype that makes him want to know everything there is to know about the universe. I think he's halfway there with as much as he's told me.
It's amazing how smart today's kids are. Enjoy the ride. It keeps getting better.
A bit of an ass, but mostly harmless. AuDHD. Love animals, plants, and nature in general. I am a delicate flower who loves to complain. A bit of a nutter. Don't take me too seriously. Gave up Google Search and switched to Ecosia. My digital life has improved greatly as a result.
