@silverwizard I concur. This is why even when I'm at my worst, I don't bail.
That, and I swore I would be a far better parent than my mother was despite my mental health issues. She walked out on us when I was 10. My youngest is 11. I sometimes have to remind myself I am factually better than my mother, despite being far more mentally ill.
@silverwizard I consider that a good thing, even if we were to ignore safety.
I've never had enough of a mastery in any specific topic to share more than basic knowledge with the kids. Truth be told, many aspects of their general knowledge exceeded mine before they hit puberty. No doubt the result of growing up in a world with more information and more connections to others.
At 10, I was playing with ninja turtles in the sandbox with my little brother. At the same age, my eldest became an artist, cosplayer, and surprisingly good TikTok user. My son, by 10, knew at least twice what I knew at that age and keeps learning more at breakneck speeds. He very much has the ADHD/ASD combo subtype that makes him want to know everything there is to know about the universe. I think he's halfway there with as much as he's told me.
It's amazing how smart today's kids are. Enjoy the ride. It keeps getting better.
@silverwizard I foolishly believed USB-C would be the standard that unites us all. Instead, they had to give us eleventeen different versions of it.
Someone clever needs to make one universal standard (oh, is that was the U stands for?), patent it, then make it free for use for everyone the way Volvo did with the 3-point seatbelt.
A bit of an ass, but mostly harmless. AuDHD. Love animals, plants, and nature in general. I am a delicate flower who loves to complain. A bit of a nutter. Don't take me too seriously. Gave up Google Search and switched to Ecosia. My digital life has improved greatly as a result.
