   @allenstenhaus @Melissabeartrix it used to be a much bigger risk. When USB drives were introduced, they - and the computers they were plugged into - were a lot slower. They had a much greater period of vulnerability as a result.

   Modern ones are a lot smarter and faster. Much less likely to corrupt.

     @twasink @allenstenhaus @Melissabeartrix I've had plenty of cases in the past couple of years where I pulled a stick before Linux flushed the caches. It's also not unusual for me to add "&& sync" to the end of commands that manipulate files on a USB drive.

     @Melissabeartrix No. I've only ever had it be an issue one time, but that issue led to days of work to correct.

     Bear in mind, I worked in IT where I was doing this several times per day. It's probably even less likely to be an issue for the average user.
