@0xabad1dea Corps are often stupid. I've seen stories of authors hired to do movie novelizations who can't get the end of the script so that they can finish the book. Absolutely bonkers.

@mekkaokereke OK, I had a thought earlier today in relation to something else: Something is slowly pushing folks to use cash less and some kind of electronic transaction more (evidence: My son was in London for two weeks in the spring and was UNABLE to spend the cash he took - businesses just don't want to fool with it). Is there some part of CAF that is being used to try to help this along? Doing anything with cash is now twice as dangerous: Criminals might rob you, or the cops might rob you.

@mhoye I have to say that I hate that every damn thing is turning complete these days. I don't really want my word processing documents to be active, I sure as hell hate that my FONTS are now doing things other than being symbols.

@limebar @mhoye I thought it had already been proven Turing complete?

@GossiTheDog Do we know why it got removed? Did Snowflake C&D them? And if so, why, is there anything manifestly untrue in it? (Looked to me from the archive that HR was careful to state that this was all 'claimed by the hacker', not proven facts).

@jwz @dangillmor That would be a dandy thing wouldn't it? I'm thinking of getting rid of it, but then...shipping is otherwise expensive and a number of things are not easily available locally. Tough call.

@paulrickards I bought a small roll of esd foam, and lined all the compartments of similar boxes with it. Not perfect, but sufficient, I think. If you want higher grade check someplace like digikey for esd boxes.

@rysiek I don't buy that it was intentional. There's not a lot of upside in actually pissing NATO off. Best case scenario pro-russian voices in NATO get much weaker. Worst case NATO forces roll in and help the Ukranians sweep the Russian army off the board. Even Putin knows by now that his military is a hollowed-out shell.

@rysiek All the other coverage I found says a grain processing area, not an important power line. Other coverage may well be understating the issue, and I possibly am giving the Russians WAY too much credit for thinking they wouldn't be stupid enough to intentionally attack a NATO member.

@rysiek I'm also not saying NATO shouldn't react quickly and forcibly (Anti-missile and supporting troops at the Polish border wouldn't be at all unreasonable, for instance). I also think this incident should be used to moral beat-down anyone opposed to any and all aid to Ukraine. I just don't think we should attribute to malice that which can be easily explained by stupidity.
