Here is a valid point - a person who purchased something from me yesterday on #bandcamp was surprised when I thanked them directly.

You see... they had no idea that Bandcamp tells the artist who bought what, including their email address.

Yeah. Not great. You want to buy some music and end up giving away your PII to not only Bandcamp but the artist.

Yet another reason to use and buy from the "fairtrade" music sites which, honestly, do a better job at privacy; #faircamp @mirlo @jamcoop etc

Currently reading Small Gods by #terryPratchett , had an aha moment about 60% in.

Discworld has been great. Fun. Funny. Moving. Full of ideas. Very literate.

But this book seems to have transitioned over into great literature. Like, if you think Breakfast of Champions by Vonnegut is great literature then this must be as well.

And it did so in a very sneaky way. It is everything all of the previous 12(?) books were, but somewhere along the way it leveled up. In a planned and inspired way.

Wanting to go visit the Statue of Liberty in May... before they scrap it and sell the copper. Kidding / not kidding.

Anyone been recently or live near with suggestions? Where to stay? Which tour company to use? Etc. Also want to visit NYC of course, but centered around a visit to the statue.

When posts federate (to Mastodon, anyway) the title and a link become the body of the Mastodon post.

The description (and hashtags?) don't come across.

Curious if this is configurable on the peertube host or if peertube would need code changes to federate better... Or Mastodon. Where is the actual issue?

Looks like https://bandwagon.fm/artists is adding integration with https://theindiebeat.fm #InternetRadio so you can flip a switch and your uploaded music shows up on the #TheIndieBeat radio automagically. This is very interesting stuff going on... #Bandwagon being federated and now allowing opt-in (by release) for radio play could be quite powerful.

@musicproduction #musicProduction people... Is there a mobile (Android for me) audio player with a really good EQ or even standalone EQ on mobile that you can use while auditioning your tracks in various places.

If I'm listening in the car, I'm really listening on my phone. If I'm listening over crappy Bluetooth speaker, I'm really listening on my phone. If I'm listening on the stereo in the living room, I'm really...etc

Would be nice to audition changes without revisiting daw each time.

The way crypto mining works, the whole point, is that if a billion CPU cores are trying to mine a coin, one and only one wins, and gets the coin.

The results of the other 999,999,999 are scrap and get wasted -- their results are heat and fossil fuel emissions.

It is literally the least efficient use of computing power in history. And that includes LLMs which ostensibly produce a "useful" result each time.

We should outlaw crypto mining through the EPA. For a start.
